Running tips for a beginner?

Hi,

So I have decided to take up running.
I have not much previous experience though I have been on a treadmill a few times and then there was high school PE XD

From the age of 14-17 I used to hike (on flat and hill terrain) competitively and at my peak could do 20-24 miles in a day (Terrible times :P)

So yeah I gave that up after summer last year, but as the season when I normally would begin training has past and now I would of been fully trained and competing I noticed that I’m losing all my stamina, fitness and the definition in my legs has gone :(

So to save my health I need tips on the best way to start running and successfully keep it up.

I plan to run in the early morning to avoid embarrassment as a beginner.

Any suggestion :)

i was like you when i began high school. i joined the cross country team to meet new people and get in shape. my first day i ran two miles. i ran painfully slow, but I did it, and thats what mattered. if you just pick a small mileage (2 miles 2 times a week?) the sense of accomplishment is huge. and thats what keeps people addicted to running. people who try to run 5 miles just getting started are less likely to continue running that people who start small.

fitness training schedule exercise
How much would you pay for this workout/fitness class or how much do you think it is worth?

How much would you pay for this workout/fitness class or how much do you think it is worth?
Fitness group class, 3 times a week, 1 hour hybrid class of resistance training, cardio and stretching?
How much would you pay for a unique hybrid class that is done in groups of 10 on 10 identical fully equipped stations. Each class would include planned
1. strength/resistance training working major muscle groups each class with various exciting exercises
2. high intense cardio before and after workout and in between some sets (running, jumps, burpees, cycling, boxing, kickboxing)
3. stretching
Each class would be challanging but resistance could be changed based on and set according to fitness level/condition of member.
Everybody would be entitled to work out three times a week for an hour in a fixed schedule.
So when signing up people have to choose the time slots they will work out. That will guarantee them a station for those workouts.

Find a fitness club with a low monthly fee (no more than $20) and no contract. When you get tired of it, you won’t have to pay any further. This routine you’re asking about with a personal trainer can cost around $50 a week, if not more….

fitness training seminars
what to do about employment dilemma?

I want to get into personal training, so, I interviewed w/ a rather large, corporate fitness club. anyway, they’re opening a new club on Jan 1, and I went into this thing w/ no training or experience (I just work-out & have a dance background) and all of a sudden last week the mngmt. approached the two other new hires & me w/ a huge list of things to accomplish for the grand opening on Jan 1 incl. 10 training sessions in all areas of fitness to do w/ potential members, several 1 hr. seminars that we have to present to like, 100 people,& we’re expected to learn aerobic classes in 1 week & then teach them on stage and I have NO training!~ we haven’t even recieved our or studied our info. for certification yet. I feel totally overwhelmed and just want to back out on this thing right now! I’ve been w/ them for 2 weeks. WHAT should I do?!

You sound like a lawsuit waiting to happen. A “personal trainer” w/o credentials?! What the heck were they thinking? Tell your supervisor that you are not certified, HR made a mistake and they need to get your certified before you can legally work. Also, talk to your lawyer, make sure YOU are not liable if you jeopardize someones health by working w/o knowing anything.
