Can anyone give me some advice on fitness training?
Hi there
I am trying to build my fitness and have joined a gym. Equipment available is: treadmills, exercise bikes, rowers, cross trainers, steppers, vibrating machines and a range of resistance machines. I would like to get my general fitness up and hopefully tone up in general especially my legs. I will have about an hour for a workout each time I go
I would separate your aerobic and resistance training. One day to aerobic for an hour, the next day, focus on resistance, and so on. Focus on a few different machines each time, to get a variety of movements in.
Can I ask what the heck a vibrating machine is at a gym?!
When you get there, is there a possiblity of going in the pc platoon? I am 164 and my max is 170 but my recruiter said there is a possiblility. I can do the requirements for physical fitness, and keeping up shouldn’t be hard, but I am concerned. I leave in 5 days and he just mentioned this. I have been working on loosing weight, but I have also been trying to tone up, because I had no idea this was a possiblity right off the bat. Also, if I get in this flight for two weeks, do I keep my job, or do they give it away and assign me to something different because I didn’t graduate at the date I was supposed to?

What to train for soccer at home and for how long to make pro?
Hi, im nearly 15 years old and have been playing club soccer since 8 years old. Im living in Australia and would love to make it pro either playing for the A league (our top leage in Australia) or overseas anywhere. Ive started to train on my own at home everyday and work on fitness in the gym. What drills should i train at home and for how long shuld i train for? Do i have a chance of making it? Thanks heaps!!
Also I play as a striker/winger and need to work on my left foot, dribbling players and holding onto the ball longer without losing it.
ok, first off, I’m fourteen too, i’m in the exact same position, i train everyday and i’ve been playing club since 8. How good is your club team?? Are they a big club that’s easily recognized?? You have to get your name out there, go to big camps or do anything that has “college showcases”. Make sure your on the best team in your area and that you are a key player. At home I would definitely, as you said, work on your left foot. Being able to use both feet and having good ball control is tremendous and crucial for college scouts. Anybody can make it to the pros, you just have to work extremely hard, i also recommend a lot of juggling to increase ball control and maybe learn to do cool tricks like the “around the world” i have it nailed down but it takes a while to learn but it really helps with quickness. Good luck and hope to play you sometime in the pros!!!
How do you get from 5 Points center Station in Atlanta to Bally Total Fitness in Marietta? What marta train?
Which marta train do you catch? East bound? South Bound?
There is no MARTA train that takes you to Marietta. You need to take MARTA probably to the sandy springs area and then hop onto a Cobb Community Transit Authority bus.

To apple-shaped women or nutrition/fitness experts only: how did you lose your belly fat?
It’s my one major problem area b/c I work 10-12 hour days (primarily at the computer) and my stress levels are high. I know about the cortisol connection and i’ve done research…but hearing it right from the horse’s mouth is much more convincing. If you are an apple-shaped woman who has experienced losing your belly’s inches, please share what you did (the more detail the better if you have time please).
Experts- I would appreciate your advice and input and experiences of your clients if possible.
thanks so much!! :)

Experts Only: Are crunches a waste of finite gym time?
I think one of the biggest scams in fitness is crunches. Sure, everyone wants great abs but since there is no spot reduction and 95% of people aren’t even lean enough to show abs, what’s the point? And when you are lean, most people have some natural degree of ab muscle anyway.
Considering that most people have a finite amount of time to spend in the gym, isn’t the time more efficiently spent in other weightlifting and cardio activities?
Do you feel that abs are an important part of regular training, are largely unnecessary, or that its something you might want to simply hit hard during a lean-out phase?
Do you have any personal experience that backs up your opinion?
You must do abdominal work and core work in general to strengthen and stabilize that area. You don’t want an overly strong lower back compared to abs and vice versa. Most people work the abs WRONG. You work them just like chest, biceps or any other muscle. In general, sets of 8-12 reps and you must use weight, resistance whatever. Adding some mass to your abs will shape them and help them show through
