I’m trying to get in good shape. Should I enter into a BJJ/Martial Arts/MMA school or go to 24 hr fitness. The Octagon in Dallas is ran under one of the best MMA fighters around (look it up). It also has training equipment, like weights, punching bags, personal trainers etc, but it is kinda pricey. 24 hr fitness is a little cheaper i think but some people say it is crowded. I want a place where they take things serious, not some aerobics crap. What do you think?
The MMA school sounds a lot more fun compared to the chain generic gym IMO. Additionally, you’ll be learning skills in addition to getting into shape at the MMA school. The extra price (if you can afford it) might be worth it.

I am interviewing for a security officer position for Allied Barton (you may know them they are a pretty big company). My question is what kind of training are they given and and what is the training program like i.e. physical fitness tests or anything like that? I know that they are trained in cpr and some other things like that….I also saw one of the officers slim jimming a car for a lady who locked her keys inside.
P.S. I asked this question and got a bunch of really crappy answers, so please only serious answers this time around.
Regarding the company, Allied Barton……….I have no experience dealing with the company or their officers directly.
Most security firms require you to have a pulse, be punctual, and have no felony convictions. According to the company web site for Allied Barton they are no different.
Allied Barton has interactive web based training and OTJ (on-the-job) training. A valid CPR and First Responder cards are required by most state laws (so Allied Barton is just complying with state mandates).
Here’s their info:

I’d like to get a job as a group fitness instructor teaching cardio-based kickboxing classes. Can someone give me details on the pros and cons of different kinds of certifications? I’ve read a little on the internet, but want some “real-world” and “practical” advice. I’m leaning towards ACE, but there are so many of them out there. At this point, I’m more interested in teaching classes than I am in personal training. Thank you.
Part of it depends on where you plan to teach when you are done. I know most gyms like to see NASM fitness trainer certification. They are very focused on complete sports medicine training, though you’d need to ask them if they have programs specifically for group classes. I can’t imagine it makes a difference, but I couldn’t say.

When does it become inappropriate for a married man to socialize with a coworker?
Husband of 17 years is an Officer in the Military and has been socializing with an young enlisted and married coworker. She is a fitness fanatic and has asked to help out on my child’s soccer team. No problem. Lately however, they have gone to sporting events (2) which other friends attended but myself and other spouse did not. They speak frequently on the cell phone and are now wanting to become “workout partners” and my husband wants her to teach my son about weight training,
Quite frankly, I told my husband this was inappropriate behavior. Even if there are no “intentions” at this time they both are putting themselves in a position to have this “friendship” turn to something much more however, he thinks I’m being “psycho”.
Thoughts?
You are absolutely right to feel the way you do. You need to be upfront with him about how you feel and tell him you are concerned about the situation he is getting himself into. If I remember correctly, officers can get in much bigger trouble for adultery than the average citizen, so not only would it hurt both marriages, but careers as well. What happens when she gets upset with him while they are alone and decides he was acting inappropriately when he thinks he was just acting as a “workout buddy”. If she files a complaint and they were alone it’s her word against his. Not a good place to be, especially in the military. It IS inappropriate behavior. He needs to smarten up, not only to respect his marriage, but to protect his job.

What I would do is ask a sports trainer. There is one at this site who answers questions like yours.I would post your question to them since they work with athletes everyday.Good luck.
what are some questions to ask a cop about the job?
so later I am meeting with a local cop to ask a few questions about the job
these are the questions I have come up with:
What is the average salary?
How hard is it to find a job?
What are the usual calls about?
Do many cops smoke ciggs?
If I know someone who does drugs, what should I do?
What is the average day like?
What is the training like?
What is a good fitness program?
What are some requirements?
What are the hours a police officer usually works?
any other questions I should ask?
I congratulate you for having the initiative to go and do a face to face interview instead of relying on some Internet interview. Many kids think that they can get away with these question ares that they send out.
Some other questions;
1. how has police work affected your family life?
2. can you talk about your most exciting call?
3. can you talk about the call that affected you the most?
4. how does real life police work differ from the fake television police shows?
[mage lang="" source="flickr"]rugby fitness training drills[/mage] What is the recommended training schedule for a 18 year old fullback/fly half during the off season.?
I have four and a half months until the rugby season starts again and in that time I would like to increase my fitness levels with specific regard to my position. I play fullback prodominantly and a little bit of fly half. I would like to improve my fitness in terms of stamina, strength, skills and speed ( I defiantly want to improve my speed drastically). I do not have access to gyms and I dont have anyone to train with. I have a few dumb bells, a bar bell, couple of rugby balls and the local parks and such.
I also place kick and need this to be incorporated into my training.
If anyone could help me design a training schedule or give me some tips regarding use full drills and all it would be very very much appreciated.
P.S. I weigh 91kgs and I am 183cm tall.
monday 1 hour ball skills (booting up then catching) 30 min weights
