Thoughts from SERIOUS nutrition and fitness freaks WANTED!!?
I guess I’m just tired of everyone trying to lose weight without putting in the hard work, thinking situps make you get abs and believing negative calorie foods exist….
Come on people, don’t you reckon if it was that easy we would all have toned athletic bodies!
I guess my real question is to the fitness and nutrition freaks out there who know a thing or two, what inspires you to keep training and furthering your knowlege of health & fitness? Do you think people in the “real world” (verus the “cyber world”) are as naive? And if there are any personal trainers out there, are your clients as painful as many on here?
As someone who has become a fitness and nutrition “freak” over the past 9 months, my motivation is constantly finding ways to live healthier and treat the only body I have as best I can. I have a lot of friends who have seen my success and want to also lose weight … but they just don’t want to exercise or eat better. They also want the easy way out.
But basically I just wanted to say that I AGREE with you 110% and I’m so tired of people not wanting to exercise just because they are too lazy. Call it harsh but it’s laziness. If you’re happy with your body, more power to you, but you cannot expect to lose weight without work.

Mountaineering – Mount Eolus, Windom Peak, Sunlight Peak – How hard and how much?
I’m determined to climb all three of these 14ers within the next year or so, but as an Indiana boy, I’m not used to high altitude or familiar with what it takes to bag a mountain, much less three. How much can I expect to spend on necessary gear and travel, and how hard are they to climb? Any suggestions on fitness training?
Those peaks have a difficult access issue in that you have to take the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Needleton and hike into the Chicago basin….. These peaks are also really nasty and difficult and require mandatory overnights.
The “Twilights” as they are called around here are….well…. Think of Ski Run classifications where “Green” is easiest, “Blue” is intermediate and “Black” is the hardest….
These peaks are “Black” and may not be approprate for a Beginner.
If you want to bag back to back 14ers as a warmup I would suggest Grays and Torres [Greens] near Summit county. Or try and bag the Sierra Blanca [Blue/Black]…. I did Blanca and Ellingwood in one day and tried Little Bear but the knife edge ridge scared the crap outta me.
Just remember one of the most important rules on climbing Colorado peaks…. Get off the summit before noon to avoid the afternoon t-storms. Scariest moment of my life was trying to bag Torres after Grays and a storm came up with the most intense lightning… ever.
As far as equipment…. That’s tough because everyone is different. Some guys are “UltraLight’ and take almost nothing and bivouac and some people like tents. So it’s up to you…. Without knowing your experience level its tough to say.
Water will be super important…. In the high alpine I take purification tablets and just strain out all the little floatys…. And that water is crisp!
Anyway good luck man!!

Can i do bodybuilding in the royal marines?
I want to be a royal marine. My hobby is bodybuilding and I’ve entered a few competitions.I’ve heard that if i join the armed forces i would have to give this up as it’s not classed as proper fitness training. Is this true? or can you still do bodybuilding seriously even-tho you’re in the armed forces? any help from royal marines or soldiers past or present would be appreciated
Serving Bootneck with 40 commando, an im typing this in Helmand province!
Mate, all ill say is, there was some big buggers in training with me, and they were hoofing at strength work, such as yomping an such, but poor at the speed marches and hung out on the 30 miler an the commando tests.
So.. slim down a wee bit, an prepare for an emotional 32 weeks. Keep a bit of bulk, it can certainly help, plenty of body weight exercises though isntead of heavy weights, push ups an pull ups (not them pansy underarm ones!) but your clearly strong as hell, so play to your weaknesses, and do far more CV and plenty of running.
Then, when you pass out. You can get huge again… sure you lose weight at times, (current ops in Musa Qualeh there was no protein shakes for example) But there are some blokes in my unit who are HUGE. But yeah, they cant run for toffee, when we invaded iraq in 2003 i was glad i was only 5 foot 8 and merely “stocky” trust me.. you want to be small when your taking some incoming!
Anyway, im spinning dits… in a nut shell.. slim down a bit for basic, but sure, you can compete (ops depending) once your in, an sports are encourged. I know a few lifters, a UFC fighter and a bloke whos really good at darts. (thats me) :)

About joining the British Army?
Hello everyone.
I’m taking in my application form to my Army Recruitment Office this Thursday (29th) and I’ve got my BARB Test.
Before I ask my question I’ll just start from the beginning.
I was a cannabis smoker, had my last joint Sunday night just gone. Reason I stopped smoking it is because I really want to join the army. I’ve just cut that out and started my personal training, I want some level of fitness before I go in.
Whats the process of joining? Will the drug come up in my system? Whats the quickest average time of your first drug test? I’m worried about this stupid thing stopping me doing something I really want to do.
I hope someone could shed some light on this situation and/or give me some information.
Thank you for your time!
To answer your question, you will not do a drugs test till you tip up to basic.
At ADSC, the final test before basic, they will ask for a urine sample, this is not for drugs, its to test for diabetes and such. Apparently there was plans to implement it at ADSC but it would cost to much money and other moral reasons so it was binned.
So you have till basic to be clean, what time that is? Well how long is a piece of string, but it will be pretty long with the amount of people signing up.
Just do actually give up the spliffs, don’t go back to smoking that crap!

Weight training?
I know weight training is an important part of a physical fitness program (increase my metabolism and make my cardio workouts more efficient, blah blah), but the weather has been so nice that I just like to go running outside, not go to the gym. When I get home, I do sit ups and push ups. What else could I add that I can do at home instead of doing the line of machines at the gym?
There are a number of different squats and lunges you can try. There are the walking lunges, front and back lunges, and curtsy lunges. You can mix up squats by positioning your legs close together or farther apart. Just make sure to keep your knees aligned with your ankles and push up through the heel. I like to do these exercises while I’m out running. I’ll run for 10 minutes to warm up then do a quick circuit of 15 walking lunges on each leg, 20 squats then 15 curtsy lunges on each leg. Then I’ll run for a few minutes and do the circuit again. This really keeps your heart rate up and burns the fat while building rock hard glutes and thighs. Push ups are great upper body exercises. If you really want to feel the burn, try putting your feet on an exercise ball or other surface and then do your push ups. I find it actually makes the manoeuvre easier but the results are more noticable. You can do some tricep dips anywhere in your home. I do them using the bathtub as my support whenever I go to the bathroom. Good luck.

How much weightlifting strength training is there and what equipment should you have for this game? Are the recipices good on the game? I was just mainly wanted to know if this game is worth $35. Is this designed for men to or just women because it says specialy designed for women. Does the progresive training actualy work?
