Just started on PrevPac for Helicobacter Pylori & wondering what kind of diet would work for the next 14 days?

I’ve considered going on that maple syrup/cayenne pepper/water fast during the 14 days, cuz things are moving thru me pretty fast anyway, so I figgered might as well put the whole GI tract on low demand and detox at the same time. Wikipedia cites studies that show broccoli sprouts and green tea are effective at reducing H. Pylori – Yum! Any ideas folks?

you are taking an antibiotic in combination and that may be causing the quick movement, any balanced diet would be fine as there is no proven diet beneficial in curing H. Pylori.

exercise class equipment
Can’t afford a gym, full time mom and student and work almost full time and no money for equipment?

As much as I’d love to have 30 minutes per day to go out walking, I neither have the time to do so, and I definitely don’t have the money for equipment or a gym. As a mom with full time college classes, and work almost full time, I just don’t have the luxury of a lot of time to exercise.

So, what are some exercises that I can do at home that are low impact and only take a few minutes per day to lose weight and increase burning of calories?
Please, I’m looking for exercises that won’t require jumping (need LOW IMPACT), and don’t require me to purchase anything.

group exercise class ideas
Does anyone have a good idea for a radio show?

In my drama class we have to do a dramatic radio show in groups of 3. The whole point is to exercise your voice. We must have at least 4 characters with different voices, and 12 sound effects. The story is supposed to be a comedy. This is going to be done behind a curtain, so there is no physical element. Does anyone have any ideas for a good storyline?

Something like the old days. Your setting could be the Wild West with a cowboy travelling to visit his grandma (or his lady love, or whatever) when he suddenly sees (make up a villain name like Dastardly Dan) robbing the bank or him and his gang attempting to rob the train. If you can have props, make foley sounds (horse hooves galloping, train whistle, worried passengers, etc.)

Take inspiration from old radio shows like Hopalong Cassidy, Little Orphan Annie, Amos & Andy, Cloak and Dagger or something like that. Check out this site – http://www.radiolovers.com/

Does the Detox Diet really work?

I am considering trying the detox diet that beyonce used. I heard you can lose up to 20 pounds or more in just 2 weeks. Has anyone tried or heard anything about this? The ingredients are
organic natural tea syrup (20ml)
2 tablespoons of freshly sqeezed lemon juice (about half a lemon)
half a pinch of cayonne pepper (just for taste)
—drink 6 to 9 glasses a day

Does anyone have any results on this or know how long it would take to see some results?

Doesn’t sound like it would do too much in terms of weight loss. You can try it but the only key to losing weight is to take in less calories than you use throughout the day. Whether you do this by eating less/smarter, exercising more, or best of all combining the two, is your choice. But something like that seems like it would more or less dampen your appetite, resulting in eating less. It’s as simple as that. If it makes you eat less food throughout the day, then it will probably work. The timeframe depends on how little you eat as a result, but I wouldn’t expect results in less than 4-6 weeks.

Add some exercise to that diet and I guarantee you’ll see quicker, better results. Cardio.

Push-up training for a 15-year-old?

As a pretty skinny kid, i’ve been looking for ways to improve my upper-body/arm strength. I don’t have the time/facilities to do rigourous training on proper equipment so i thought you can’t go wrong with old pushups!
I’ve been recommended a nightly pushup routine, but I’m not sure how to go about it…

I can do 15 pushups without stopping (weak i know), and am looking to improve this significantly.

I was thinking maybe starting with 15 every night for a week, then 16 the next and so on; but i’m no fitness buff, so i’m not sure if this is adequate.

So any ideas on what i could do?

Do 15 push ups consecutively, take a few minute break, and do it again repeat 3 times.

add 1 push up every night or as much as you can do.

Need Help Loosing Weight?

I recently moved to a remote town in the North West Territories. I am used to riding horses “hard” for 2-3 hours a day plus other activities. Now I am not the smallest person there is, but since I’ve moved here I have put on some weight and here is little ways to get excercise. There is a fitness centre but it is closed until november because some kids vandeled it so they have to repaint it and are waiting for the paint on the last barge. I walk to and from work everyday and my family and I walk around the community. I am also on my feet all day at work.

What can I do to help loose weight. I would like to go home in May and if possible be smaller then the size I was when I got here! Trust me I have tried EVERY diet out there that I know of. Detox’s, Atkins, South Beach, Vegetarian.

At the moment I am not eating chips, pop, chocolate bars, candy and trying to eat as naturally as possible.

What can I do that will help me loose the weight and look good?

apart from just exercise, there are other ways of losing weight.

- stop at eating at 7pm or before, eating after this time will just make your body store the food you eat as fat.

- drink lots of water, this will also boost your metabolism. drink a pint of water before you eat breakfast. also Cinnamon will help.

- swap foods for alternatives.

potato – sweet potato
ful fat spread butter – flora light/ low fat spread
full fat milk – skimmed milk
lamb/beef/duck/battered fish etc – chicken (skinless) breast and fish fillets.
white bread – granary/ wholegrain bread.
pasta/ rice – brown rice/ wholegrain pasta/cous cous. but try to cut these out as this makes you put on weight.
dinner plate to using a smaller plate.

what is your daily diet?

with exercise, you could walk yours or someone else dog for an hour a day, letting the dog pull is good as it makes you walk faster and you burn more calories.

how do you get into personal training?

i want to be a personal trainer/nutritionist and i’m wondering how to start out. i love working out and i want to make a career out of it. i think personal training would be so much fun, i would love so much to help people reach their fitness goals and give nutritional information, while staying in shape myself. how can i go about getting involved?
