Looking to start my own business?
I have been wanting to start my own fitness boot camp. If been wanting to do it for a while now so I know the basics of what I need to start.
I’ve got the Personal Training Certification- NSCA
I have got the liability insurance
Those are the basic Personal Training thing I need but as far as business goes, what do I need for Arizona? I have a partner thats doing it with me. Do I need a partnership? an LLC? Business License?
I’m going to work with kids (14-16) Do I need sexual whatever insurance? Anyone have business experience?
Obviously I need to do more research but that why I’m asking, I’m no where near ready.
If you are working with 14-16 year olds, you need a lawyer to draft a waiver/consent for the parents to sign. You need something in writing that is legal to protect you in case something happens to one of them. One lawsuit from a parent would put you out of business in a hurry.
You also need the capabilities to do background checks on anyone who will be working for you or will be near the kids.
My suggestion would be to avoid co-ed activities. Keep boys separate from girls at all times.

Calorie Intake Whilst Working-Out?
I’m 5’3 and 160lbs and looking to lose around 40lbs. I have lost about 30lbs in the last 2 months and have recently upped my activity level so as to avoid a plateau.
I’m eating between 1200 and 1500cals a day and working out 6 days a week. I do a mixture of activities including swimming, running outdoors, going to the gym and attending high-impact aerobics classes.
On average I am burning around 1000cals a day through exercise, (I use an Adidas heart rate monitor that is configured for me so I know that the calculations are pretty accurate).
My question is, am I eating enough? I know that it is important to eat at least 1200cals per day so that your body is well nourished and does not go into starvation mode, however I am not sure if I should be eating more since upping my workouts, and am worried that I am going to cause more harm than good!
Thanks for any help x x
It sounds OK to me
If you have enough energy to do what you are doing and am not hungry then carry on
Well done

Can a fitness trainer help with diastasis recti (split abdominal muscles)?
Or would I need to see a physical therapist? I have diastasis recti as a result of my twin pregnancy, and have recently been cleared to do exercises to correct it. I don’t see any progress so far, and since I am considering joining a gym to get back into cardio workouts like I did before, I’m also curious as to whether fitness trainers are trained to help with this issue, or would I need a physical therapist.
I would ask your OB/GYN which would be better for you. Or go to a gym and ask someone usually they are honest about what you need.
Congrats on the new babies!
good luck

Is this the norm now?
Ok so I was invited to a 2 day bachelorette party-1 day is a $25.00 a person exercise class plus going out to a bar, plus being expected to bring food and liquor to the after party: Day 2 consists of $90+ baseball ticket (minimum $40-$50 parking) plus bar hopping before and after the game
In addition to all that-gifts for the bride? Do all bachelorette parties these days cost guests $300? I had told one of the hosts that it’s ridiculous to expect that we bring gifts on top of spending all that money-that it should be a NO Gift party? Am I wrong? The Bride planned all of this-which is fine but is she being selfish
Suz: It’s my husbands sister-so it wouldn’t be right for me just to decline!!
It’s kind of an obligation
Her shower is 2 weeks later as well!!
Thats horrible! I dont know why brides need a big bash for their bach. party, and presents on top of that! I didnt have any bach. party at all. My bridesmaids had a small breakfast for me the day of the wedding, and I was very grateful for that, but I didnt ask them for it.
People are getting so greedy over their weddings. Spend more time on here, and you will see there are a lot more brides just like your sister in law.

Gluten intolerance and bad skin?
I’m nearing a month of a gluten free diet due to a sensitivity (not C.D.), and have noticed that my skin has been getting increasingly more problematic. While I am used to a few pimples, I have developed a bunch of what appear to be incredibly clogged pores. It’s like a bunch of raised bumps, the same color as my skin, that pop if I squeeze them. They’re not pimples, and they’re not blackheads.
Is this a symptom of detox, and will they eventually dissipate? It’s really starting to bother me.
(Prior to becoming gluten free, probably 80% of my food contained gluten)
Any suggestions to help clear my skin? I’m going to start drinking hot water with lemon & honey a couple times a day to see if this helps. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
yes that sounds like a detox.that happens to me. if its lasts longer than another month I would look into other sources for your cause of bad skin, such as dairy products.

Which exercise should be avoided if one has an ovarian cyst?
I was diagnosed last week with a plum-sized cyst on my left ovary as a result of endometriosis. I will probably have to have surgery sometime soon to take it out. My doctor told me it is still ok to do exercises as long as I don’t overdo it. I don’t know what the cut-off should be, though. I asked if I could still go to spinning classes (indoor group cycling) and she said yes. But my mom told me not to, and said anything like that could increase my risk of it rupturing. Any advice on the matter? Thanks.
All excercise is ok with ovarian cyst. Cycling and even running is ok. Sometimes surgery is unnecessary and the cyst can be resolved with birth control. Unless the cyst is a solid mass then surgury is needed. Ask your doctor for atleast 3 months of BC then repeat your ultrasound. Good luck.

Put on another ten pounds of muscle (goal is 245 at 11% bf at end of summer), that and I get to eat more calories, which means more food, which means more nutrients (from nutrient dense food), which means I get healthier.

Does fasting for a day really help detox your body?
I was on alot of meds for an illness for a long time. I’d like to cleanse my body of chemicals. I’ve changed my diet to organic food & purchased a Detox tea. Would a day of fasting help?
I went on a 10 day fast once where I just drank milk. I was experimenting, and chose milk because it still has some protein and calcium, and is not all sugar like fruit juice. Because I did not want to starve myself, I figured I would allow my self to drink as much milk as I wanted, and supplement it with a multi-vitamin.
It was difficult, but I never felt hungry, or tired for lack of food. I exorcised some, but nothing special. After the 10 days of strict fasting, my metabolism reset, I had much more energy, felt far less junk food cravings… before the fast I drank a lot of coffee, and had aquired a sort of immunity to the effects of caffine… but that was reset too. (Not sure why, but it was nice) So in the end… after a little exocise in will power, I felt much healthier… and lost some weight in the process.

Any tips for beginners to jogging?
Feeling really stressed at the moment, I’m a third year undergraduate and I thought a bit of jogging would vent some of this tension.
Im completely new to jogging. I usually go on the exercise bike once a week, so any tips on hows far I should run, pace, how long I should run for etc
When I’ve got into training in the past I am usually a fit healthy individual, but Ive got out of shape so best assume I have minimum fitness.
I started jogging about 2 years ago. At first I was dire – I could barely manage to jog along, I was out of breathe, practically purple (!) but I went about it the wrong way, I just flung myself into it headfirst.
The way to go about it is to start off slow, jog at a slow pace for a few minutes, then brisk walk for few minutes, the jog again. After doing this for a few sessions, you’ll be able to cut the walking times so before long you are just jogging.
Once you’ve got your jogging style – everyone runs differently, some are nodders, others do the weirdest things with their arms – you can then improve your speed. Again, do it gradually.
It took me a week before I noticed a difference as I timed my runs. After a fortnight I was noticing a real difference and after a month, the run that took me 45minutes was taking me 25.
Make sure you’ve got yourself a good, proper pair of jogging shoes.
The first sign of any injury, stop and rest – don’t carry on or you’ll end up much worse.
Run in busy places, don’t go running through an empty park in the evening.
Running on the street? Wear reflective arm bands.
Don’t wear anything that rubs – I’ve ended up in agony with seams on shorts/underarms that rub like murder after a while.
I never listen to my iPod when jogging, I want to stay alert on all whats going on around me.
Jogging is the best way to get fit and is the best way to get fit fast – you come along in leaps and bounds so much quicker than using gym equipment.
Have fun!

Coping without exercise after C-section?
I am pregnant with my second child, and have been informed due to my previous history, I will be having a scheduled C-section. My first child was a C-section (after 27 hours of labour), and I was in recovery for quite a while.
I know conventional wisdom to wait to exercise is 6-8 weeks, and am already aware that I will be busy enough with a new baby. HOWEVER, having been a competitive athlete and fitness enthusiast, my life, my mood and any sense of well-being is tied to physical activity. Last time, there was concern I had PPD because of the inactivity (compounded with everything else.
My questions: Are there minor activities one can do moderately increase heartrate or do strength training without compromising the weakened abdominal muscles?
If not, what were your coping mechanisms during the period of recovery?
Thanks in advance!
(I have forwarded this question in the pregnancy section, but hope to obtained some informed answers from experts in this domain as well!)
I was just like you, and trust me, the 2nd time you have a c-section is way better than the first, your body went through so much before your last one that it took long to recover, this time you are prepared, and it makes a world of difference. I too love and miss exercise during that newborn phase, but there unfortunately is not a lot of things that dont involve those abs, I just ate a lot of protein and veggies in those first few weeks and lost all but 8 pounds of my pregnancy weight! My first baby was c-section, 2nd was a Vbac, and 3rd was another c-section, when you have the energy, and no pain from it, go walking, it clears your mind too, when hubbie comes home, go out the door and walk for 20-30 minutes, when you come back, you will be recharged mentally and physically:)
And dont worry, after the baby is 2 months old you can get right back into those weights and lunges
