Me and my friend recently started a kickboxing class and we really enjoyed it. We want to improve our over all fitness so that we can start learning Thai boxing also. We want to train outside our class to give us a head start but don’t know where to begin…has anyone any ideas
A lot of these answers are good ones and should be followed but what they don’t mention is flexibility. When you watch kickboxing match those guys can kick easily to the head. Are you able to do this, if not then that is where you need to start and it is simple and doesn’t cost a dime. So if you focus on stretching then the class you are in will focus on your cardio and you should be on the right track. Below is an article that goes over how to warm up and stretch before classes..
[mage lang="" source="flickr"]fitness training degrees online[/mage] Personal Training with just a Certifcation, Not collage degree, is it still worth it?
im a 21 year old male, in tip top great shape, lean build. I know just about everything about the human body and everything about working out, i have a certification in Massage therapy that i received not too long after high school, and am currently in the Marine corps Reserves, im also currently in school in an online collage with a major in exercise science. I want to get my certification online for personal training, i want to start being a personal trainer soon, i cant with for another 3 yrs of collage to start work as a PT. I get deployed overseas in a little over a year.
So my question is this, could someone just be certified in personal training get a good job at a gym or do they have to have a collage degree in some sort of fitness degree.
You dont need a colledge degree to be a personal trainer though it does help increase your credibility. You will need to be certified though and have insurance. Here are a few certifications that might help. There is NSCA, ACSM, ACE and others depedning on which part of the world you are. ASCM needs a degree though the others dont need one unless you want to be a CSCS with the NSCA. Just go online and check these certifications. For your case I would go with either NSCA or ACE though I dont know which part of the world you are in.

I have a Simple question…Im 17& Weight around 145, I’m
healthy drink lots of water and work-out/Run every other day. I
don’t really have a big stomach but ive got these
ManBoobs(not to big tho) sadly. So I’m wondering if i should
use “Stemulite” to build muscle to firm up that area(If I’m old
enough to take it of course) or follow the “Detox”
Program(Water,Cheyne ,Lemons)???
TY in Advance :)
You really should check with your doctor before you start any new supplementation and exercise program.
In one particular interview that took place with Dr. Summers, who helped created Stemulite, he mentioned that younger athletes who are looking for a natural avenue to help build muscle without harmful side effects he highly recommended Stemulite.
Genetics plays a role in body composition. However, with a sensible diet, and enough cardio, overall body fat can be reduced.
The Master Cleanse is a good way to detoxify and lose wieght quickly, but more than likely you will gain it back.
The best way to see changes in your body is through regular interval training, and with the help of Stemulite, you can be on your way.

I have a Bachelors in Psychology, If i get accepted, would getting a Masters degree in Exercise be valuable?
Exercise Science is my passion, I love to study it and would love to work in the field. I have a Degree in Psychology…I may get accepted into a masters program for exercise science, because I have enough pre req classes, but i have some questions.
1) do you think a masters program in exercise science from Oakland U, would be too intense for someone who studied the psychology cirriculum.
2) Could i get a job, if I have a masters in Exercise Science, but a bachelors in Psychology. or would that hold me back? My bachelors is from major university.
What do you want to do with a masters in exercise. REsearch. There are not many jobs for people with masters in exercise science. Many people with BS in ES go on to PT or OT school.
If you want to be a personal trainer, you do not even need a BS degree.

I am an alcoholic just beginning my recovery. Drinking has occuped my time and attention for many years now. Others in AA have noted that filling the time is difficult in the beginning and they recommend making a list of 30 things that I once liked to do or think that I might like to try instead of drinking. Some are simple like take a walk. Others are longer term like take a class at the community college. I find, however, that I have been in the bottle for so long that I can’t think of many things I once did or that I might like. So, I am looking for advice. I am 49 and fat, so vigorous exercise is out. Any ideas about how an old drunk can spend his free time?
At 49, you can spend some of your time exercising moderately and gradually open physical doors that you thought were closed. You would be amazed at how resilient the body is.
Walking in the morning is excellent… and a great time to do a daily 10th step, or talk on the cell phone with your support network.
I wish you success each day.

im 25 & THR is 140bpm for fat burning, but this seems way to easy for me,asif no fat burning is happening, why?
i train 4-5 times a week for about 45 mins to an hour, but when im on the machines, it seems that my target heart rate is way way way too easy and that i can do more, but then i wouldnt b e in the fat burning zone for my age group, im not over weight but want to burn body fat before i bulk up with muscle, also, does anyone know a good website for dieting on the fitness regime im currently undertaking? thank you
what you should do is alternate between the thr fat burning zone and sprints…… so work hard for a minute, and then go to your thr fat burning zone for 2 minutes…. then repeat… this helps burn more fat.
Does anyone have the detox juice diet recipes that were in Women’s World magazine in Summer of 2008?
The article was about losing 30 pounds in 2 weeks. There were about six different juice recipes to make.
Hi Erose
I’m afraid I don’t have those recipes but I just wanted to say that if you are serious about losing weight you do need much more than just recipes.
You really need to follow a plan which will take into account every aspect of detoxing.
One thing I would say is that 30lbs in 2 weeks is a bit extreme, that’s over 2lbs a day every day for 14 days, and realistically that’s not going to happen without making you feel ill. I would set a target of 1llb per day and you would lose the 30 lbs in 1 month, which is pretty good!
Detoxing is not easy and to go back to what I said before, if you follow a plan you are much more likely to succeed. There are some good programs online which are for people who want to detox and lose weight at the same time.
I know some of these can be purchased for less than 40 bucks so my advice to you is to do that then follow the program to the letter and I’ll bet you will have lost your 30 lbs in 1 month or less and feel a whole lot healthier!
Best of luck!

Have you ever taken a class like this??? what kind of things do they make you do??
An introduction to the discipline of Physical Education through Fit Camp. An historical examination of Fit Camp for fitness which includes a look at the U.S. military boot camp regimen. The student will strive for ultimate fitness through a program of cardiovascular exercise including circuit and intervals, balance, agility, speed, strength, and flexibility training both indoors and outdoors. Strength, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and body composition assessments will occur throughout the term.
That sounds fun! I like military structure. If you’re not a disciplined person then maybe you won’t like it. I think it all depends on the outlook that you have on a situation. I think you should go for it without having any doubts and just do what they tell you. The things they make you do are for your benefit and you should take advantage of it:) I think it would be a great opportunity. If I could go, I definitely would.

I’m 5’3 and 115 pounds. I, and others think so too that i have a very nice body. I just want to tone up a little bit for the summer and so forth. School is almost out too. I get home and tan 1-2 hours a day. I do have a gym class but thats about as much exercise as i get. And my step mother says it looks like i lost some weight.
Any other exercise i get is shopping, or walking around the strip [las vegas] cause im in Clark County NV :p
Any tips? Or ideas? I can’t seem to build the drive in me.
My step mom got that Turbo Jam video package thing and the first time i used it i couldn’t even walk the next day! But i love pushing myself that far so maybe ill get up and try it again.
My diet:
All i ever drink is orange juice, water or a capri sun juice box :p
LOTS OF JUICE!
I eat a lot of apples, strawberries and grapes.
And a lot of rice and meet. And thats probably it.
Oh and mac & cheese and mash potatoes but not too often.
Okay first off NO FREAKING FAIR YOU LIVE NEAR LAS VEGAS MY DREAM PLACE! But running and lifting weights is a quick and easy way to stay in shape. Ugggh :/ If you have a myspace like plllllease add me cause I would love to chat and see pics!
[mage lang="" source="flickr"]detox diet lemon cayenne pepper[/mage] Better cleanse: hollywood miracle diet or the master cleanse?
Looking to detox my body for a few days before starting a healthier diet plan. Just been eating way too much on the go fast food and alcohol lately. I’m trying to decide between the Hollywood Miracle 48 hour diet and The Master Cleanse plan with the maple syrup, lemon and cayenne pepper. I am interested in which is a more effective detox for the body, as opposed to some kinda of miracle weight loss.
These are both a rip off. You would get the same result from drinking V-8 Splash Lite or any other Lite fruit juice.
My nephew is a complete health nut. He’s training to take the Navy Seals physical fitness entrance exam (he does it TWICE a day). His 18th birthday is coming up and I want to make him a birthday cake but he’s SOOOO picky about what he puts in his body. No refined sugar, VERY little fat, only chicken, fish and (on occasion) VERY lean beef, LOTS of fruit and vegetables. Can anybody provide me with either a recipe or a link I can go to where I can find a recipe? Everybody should have a cake on their milestone birthdays, but the boy doesn’t even eat pizza anymore. I don’t know any teenager who doesn’t eat pizza. I could use a recipe for healthy pizza too!
Katjam23, Sorry, but I can see both sides of the coin, and I sympathize with you, but you also should be proud of the young man, he is a young man on a mission, “to be the best”.
Instead of baking a cake, you know the flour, milk, eggs. Do something from way out in left field. I have to thank you, because YOU inspired me to give you this answer.
Bake a whole fish, use your talents to dress it on the serving platter. When you bake it all you need is to rub the whole fish, lets say a good salmon, with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, don’t forget the cavity, season with freshly ground black pepper and sea salt. In the cavity insert a couple each of Rosemary and Thyme Sprigs. A squeeze of lemon. For the vegetables, if you steam them, use chicken stock, bit more aromatic than plain water. and arrange the vegetables in a colorful array, with your orange/reds (carrots, bell peppers, pumpkin) green/whites (peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, potato).
I think you get the idea, and you can still have your candle, place into the meaty part of the fish.
You said fruit, I would pick up from the fridge area in the fruit and vegetable or salads section, a container of Pineapple, and sear some slices on a griddle, and place them along the fish.
[mage lang="" source="flickr"]detox diet acne[/mage] Detox body just by changing diet to get rid off acne?
I read about liver flushes somewhere on the internet. By doing a step by step procedure with items like epsom salt, grape fruit, olive oil, etc, you can cleanse your body. I am very active in sports, so I can’t fast. Can you cleanse your body just by eating clean foods (natural unrefined foods) ?
Those detox flushes will not cure acne, nor will changing your diet. Diet has been shown to have little or no effect on acne.
Beware of using any products for acne unless they have been prescribed or recommended by your doctor. People make all kinds of suggestions about the best thing to do to cure acne. Some cures I’ve heard include putting oatmeal, honey, lemon juice, tea tree oil, cucumber, vinegar, milk of magnesia or toothpaste on your face. Practically every cosmetics company and company that makes personal care products makes something that is a “sure cure” for acne. If we think about this, and use some common sense, we have to come to the conclusion that there is no quick or easy cure for acne, because if there was it would be well known and doctors would be telling everyone about it.
Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little. Often fewer products are better. People often make their acne much worse by using too many products. There really is no quick fix for acne. Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne. Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..
There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing. Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean. Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that. Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue. Drink plenty of water – it really does help to clear up acne. Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep. A healthy life style will make a difference. Try to reduce the stress in your life – stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.
Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.
Here are a few informative links with additional ideas about preventing and treating acne.
