The beginning of May I started my life change! I’ve started working out and eating better! As of now i’ve lost 5 pounds. Which i’m happy about. I want to know how i’m doing and if you think i should add or subtract anything.

My meal plan:
Breakfast- Two egg white scrambled, on a whole wheat english muffin. 4 fresh strawberries. 8 oz skim milk.

Lunch- One Campbell Healthy Select light soup, either italian veg or pasta veg. One whole can is about 100 cal.

Dinner- Usually a large salad with light italian dressing. Lean meat, usually chicken (not a fish fan) or a small cut of beef. And a steamed veggie with lemon.

I drink more than enough water during the course of the day. Probably 10- 8oz glasses.

Exercise:
I recently bought Wii Ea Active and i’m doing the 30 day challenge. So i do that as i’m supposed to. I also workout at the gym 4-5 times a week. Usually starting with a 10 minute warm up walk on the treadmill. Then 25 minutes on elliptical level 5. Usually at the gym i burn up to 350 calories. I cant run due to shin splints, or else i would add that.

Anyways, thats my routine! Let me know what you think and how well you think i’ll do!! Thanks!!
I’m 5’5" and weighed 162, now 157.
I’m not exactly "fat" but i definatly have hips. I’m trying to get to 135. Oh and i’m 24

Please, those of you who have tried Hoodia Gordonii, what brand available in stores worked best for you? I know a lot of them are not authentic, but I would like to know if any are that I don’t have to send away for.

Thank you.

Is it possible to be healthy on a raw food diet? I’ve been considering going vegan for some time now, and everything I’ve read about the raw food diet has been incredible (as far as the benefits go). I’m already slim, and I don’t want to lose too much weight, however. Can I go on raw food diet and still keep my weight in a healthy range?

I live in Kansas were Hills is owned and produced. I work at a natural pet food store and I have gone to Kansas State and worked at the vet school. Every were I turn people feed science diet or prescription diet without blinking an eye or reading a label. I am only 22 years old and I find the money to feed my dogs good food (Merrick and honest kitchen or urban wolf). I know that at K-State vet school the first year students get a backpack on the first day of class with the Hills logo and a note saying that they would be "teaching" nutrition to the first year students. If I heard that my doctor had been taught nutrition by Oscar Myer I would find a new doctor. Besides the moral concerns, the food sucks. It is full of by-products, grains and cancer causing agents like BHA, BHT and ethoxiquine. And don’t get me started on beet pulp. Now they have a "natural" food which is about as natural for a dog to eat as a shoe. My question is, how do we convince other pet owners that Hills is bad?
Obviousely hills is not the only culprit but I live in KS so its everywere. Nutro, Euk, Royal Canin and many others are horrible too but they arn’t "teaching" the vets. And as to those saying that hills is great, you prove my point. Read the label.

I have heard the cleansing you colon can help with natural weight loss and is just over all healthy. Most sites that offer colon detox’s look very corny and fake. I don’t want to buy one. I would like to know if I can do this at home on my own. Or are there any that actually work?

Thank you for your help.

If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’re aware of the positive health benefits colon cleansing using herbal colon cleansers. In this article, I’m going to go over the reasons for colon cleansing, some of the benefits of herbal colon cleansing, and how to find safe herbal colon cleansers.

Fist and foremost, why do we need to cleanse our colon?

You may have heard the saying “death begins in the colon” before. The reason doctors say this is because our immune system is directly linked with our colon health. In today’s society, the processed foods that we eat, pharmaceutical drugs we take, and environment toxins we’re exposed to all contribute to putting toxins in our body that need to be cleared out. Cleansing your colon helps relieve your body of accumulated toxic build-up, purifies the colon, and helps normal bowel function to promote regularity.

What are some of the benefits of colon cleansers?

The benefits of colon cleansing are numerous. Here are 7 fantastic benefits of colon cleansing:

Improved bowel function
Relief of constipation
Relief of back pain (in some cases)
Increased levels of energy
Less bloating, gas and flatulation
Better digestive health
Improved immune system
Weight loss
Better skin

All in all, the best benefit of internal colon cleansers is feeling better. So it’s important if you take your health seriously to regularly cleanse your colon, and give your body a fighting chance against all the toxins you and I put into our bodies on a regular basis.

Think of colon cleansing like an oil change for your car. If you had a brand new car, you wouldn’t just change your oil after 5,000km. You’d change the oil EVERY 5,000km. Right? And you wouldn’t just brush your teeth once every week – you brush them often (I hope). Well, your colon is the same way, except instead of 5,000km, or several times a day, you need to cleanse your system 1-2 times per year, depending on your lifestyle and how often you feel you need it.

How can I find safe colon cleansing products?

There are countless colon cleansing products on the market these days, as colon cleansing has become quite popular in recent years. But not all colon cleansers are made equal. Some colon cleansers can seriously upset your digestive system, and cause days on the toilet and feelings of sickness. That’s why it’s important to go all-natural, and look for a herbal colon cleanser that will work gently to cleanse your colon, instead of blasting your insides in just a few days.

It’s also important to look for a colon cleanser that comes with a probiotic to replenish the good bacteria that protects flora balance in your system.

I hope you’ve learned a little bit about why it’s so important to your health to regularly cleanse your colon with a good herbal colon cleanser.

I tried taking moss from my garden, putting it in salty hot water for a bit and then filtering some water through it. The ph actually went down! I wonder if i could use that for my fish tank because my tap water is very alkaline (around 9). I am using a ph-down chemical right now, but i hate using it because it is hard to match ph perfectly and it doesnt seem good for my fish. I have guppies right now, they like slightly alkaline water, so i dont need to add much, but i have another new tank that i want to put some tertas in or make a community tank. I cannot buy peat moss anywhere where i live and the one on the internet is very expencive. I have a lot of wood in my tank but it doesnt seem to help much. Could i set up a barrel and put wood and perhaps that moss in there and take some of that water and mix it with tap water to make it good?

Yes, I did already ask this but no one really answered my question…please don’t tell me I shouldn’t switch my cat’s diet as it is neccessary for my one cat’s health as 1 is sick because of the commercial food.

I have been thinking about switching my cats to a raw diet for quite some time. Since I’m going to be getting a dog soon, I’ve decided there is no better time than now to really work towards switching them to a new diet. I do have a couple of questions though…first of all, if I am understanding the information I have read so far correctly cats have much more extensive nutritional needs than dogs…this slightly freaks me out as I’m afraid I won’t supplement their raw diet correctly. So look online I found this pre-mix for raw foods it’s called alnutrin, does anyone know anything about this? Do you think it is quality? You have to add raw meet and water that’s it. It’s fairly cheap w/o shipping and says it makes 32 pounds of food.
Also, I can’t find anything like this for dogs…is it because it isn’t necessarily needed? Can anyone recommend a pre-mix of quality for raw diets for dogs?
Does anyone have any recipes for making a homemade dry kibble, as I would still like to free feed my cats throughout the day, or any other recommendations for switching my cats (and soon to be dog) to a raw diet?

Here is the link to the stuff I am looking at http://www.knowwhatyoufeed.com/alnutrin_with_calcium.html

Please read first…
My Mom had a heart attack a year ago and has since changed her total way of living. She exercises every day and has totally changed her diet. She has cut out alot of fats, eats alot of organics and health foods and only uses olive oil. She has even lost about 25 pounds.
*She just found out today that her cholesterol is 100 points higher than it was 6 months ago.* What is going on?

I’m trying really hard to lose weight. I’m not "fat" just a little heavy. I’m 5’4" 153 pounds 24 years old. 3 months ago I weighed in at 163, so i’ve lost 10 pounds so far. I eat around 1100-1300 calories per day.
A typical meal daily meal plan looks like:
Breakfast: scrambled egg whites with low fat cheese on a whole wheat english muffin with salsa. I usually have an 8 oz glass of skim milk also. 274 calories
Lunch: slimfast meal shake and a applesauce. 270 calories
Dinner: usually consists of a fresh veggie either grilled or steamed. a salad with light vinaigrette and a lean meat, usually chicken breast sometimes steak.

Workout: (1) 20 minutes 15% incline 3.2 speed, usually burn 210 calories. 20 minutes elliptical, usually burn 200 calories.
(2) Interval running. Walk for 5 minutes, then run for 1 minute, walk for 1 1/2 minutes, keep going until 25 minutes, walk last 5 minutes,u sually burn 220 calories. Then I use the weight machines for about 20 minutes.

I try to switch up the workouts everyother day. And I usually workout 3-4 days a week, sometimes as much as 5.

I want to know how i’m doing! And how soon until you think i’ll reach the 130 mark that i’m aiming for!

Thanks!!

http://www.knowwhatyoufeed.com/alnutrin_with_calcium.html

Ok first of all…the reason I want to change my cats diet is because they have been eating commercial cat food which is terrible for them, my senior cat is pre-diabetic and needs to lose some weight.
Second, my cats have been exposed to dogs because I believe in socializing my animals to people and other animals…really who doesn’t do this?
Third, I think you can make homemade kibble and that’s what I would be interested in doing…PLEASE ANY RECIPE is greatly appreciated.

Okay, so on Christmas Eve my ferret throws up clear vomit, I was very scared. Now today she threw up again. This time it was greenish brown and lumpy. I don’t know what it could be, but we have 2 ferrets. So the non-throwing up one (Molly) eats one food and the throwing up one (Daisy) eats another kind of food. The only reason they eat different foods is because Daisy doesn’t like the food Molly eats. She just won’t eat it. So I’m just wondering if the food she doesn’t like is making her throw up green. The name of the food she doesn’t like is Bonanza Ferret Gourmet Diet. The food she does like is called Super Premium Ferret Blend with Taurine. I was just wondering what makes ferrets throw up green and do I have to take her to the vet? Also do you think it was the food? PLEASE HELP!!
Molly looks very concerned and is just sitting near Daisy looking out of the cage. Does this mean anything?
She trew up green pellets. Green pellets are in the food she doesn’t like. Also almost everyone in my family is sick and what is a good way the ferrets don’t get sick?

Many people looking to lose weight or improve their health are turning away from traditional calorie controlled diets and instead looking at cleansing or detox diets. People that have been following a strict weight loss diet and exercising but haven’t achieved the results they desired may have a build up of toxins that are hindering their efforts and affecting the results of the diet. A Cleansing diet aims to get rid of toxins and impurities that have been building up inside the body, often for many years. Once these impurities have been released the body is able to return to normal health.

Because of the rise in popularity of the cleansing diet in recent years a number of companies have bought out new colon cleansing and detox supplements. It is sometimes hard to select a cleansing program suited to your personal needs since a lot of hype and shiny marketing materials surround this market. It is important to remember that no one supplement is right for everyone.

Several of the most efficient cleansing diets, such as the Isagenix Canada cleanse, are full programs rather than a single supplement product. Although these programs tend to be more expensive than a single supplement product, the results are often significantly better as each aspect of the program has been professionally formulated and targets a specific aspect of the cleansing process, such as detoxifying or restoring the nutrient balance.

You will need to look passed the shiny marketing material and exaggerated health promisses in order to choose the right cleansing diet product. Many companies offer free trials, with automatic billing after a certain date. These companies are affecting the credibility of the industry and should be avoided. Do your own resaerch on the company behind the product.

Choose a product that has been professionally formulated and scientifically tested. This is extremely important as a few of the products that lately came on to the market are simply a collection of elements which are identified to aid with detoxing, however the most effective supplement formulators choose these ingredients so they work in synergy with each other to perfect the outcome of a cleansing diet program.

Another factor to consider when choosing a cleansing diet is the length of the cleanse and the time you have available to commit. Some of these will necessitate you to take the supplement on regular intervals throughout the day, and this is going to be hard if you work a full time job or need to travel on a regular basis in your work. Additional programs may well leave you feeling weak for several days throughout the deep cleansing program, this may well have an effect on your focus levels as an example. It would be best to avoid these kind of products or try to time it during a weekend or rest period. In most cases the programs that claim fast results tend to not deliver, simply because it generally takes your body quite a while before elliminating these impurities and restore its health levels to optimum.

Tom White has been involved in the natural health industry for over 5 years. As well as running a popular cleansing diet website, where you can Buy Isagenix and other detox supplements and, Tom also writes regularly about the benefits of detoxing.

I can understand that it’s an advantage to be able to live off one foodstuff exclusively, if it’s the only one that is abundantly present in your environment (like, as I understand, the panda bear’s diet consists of bamboo only).

I can also understand why it’s convenient for a carnivore to also be able to live off vegetation if the number of prey is temporarily limited.

But what is the advantage of requiring a lot of different foodstuffs to thrive, like humans do? If only one vitamin or mineral is missing, it’s detrimental to our health. Why have we evolved in a way that has made our health dependent on the weakest link in our food supply?

I am a 17 year old male, 6’0, 136 pounds. I’ve eaten a lot of junk/fried foods in my life and lately felt very sluggish and seem to always be tired. I have already been checked for limes disease so thats not it. My friend and i have already gone out and bought GNC’s Preventive Nutrition Cleanse and i’m beginning to feel that this could do more damage than it can do good for my body. What are the pro’s and cons of colon detox/cleansing for a boy my age, is it a good idea?
