Raw Foodism-Living On Live Food

Every able human being should take responsibility for what they put into their bodies, and therefore positively affecting how you live and feel on a daily basis throughout your journey in life. This is where living on live food, or a raw foods diet comes into play.

Many people will also consider this approach as a raw food diet weight loss program. A diet that happens to work without having to count calories and measure food portions.

Pick up any newspaper, popular magazine, or even when browsing the news on the Internet, and you should get a sense of what you should, and should not be, eating on a regular basis. Research the subject and you will know that a proper diet and good nutrition are always defined as eating wholesome and organic natural foods. It is not hard to take this to the next level by creating your own step-by-step raw food diet plan, sometimes called a detox diet plan.

Raw fruits and vegetables have always been suggested as part of the path to a healthy lifestyle and optimal nutrition. There are many types of raw foodism, and most raw foodist’s would acknowledge a diet that is 60-70% raw fruits and vegetables is a good definition of foodism. People that practice a raw vegan diet are definitely raw foodists, but you do not have to eat 100 % raw to be healthier and happier. This is essentially the raw food diet. A raw food diet also may include raw juicing (detox diet juice). Raw foodists sometimes refer to themselves and each other as ‘foodies”.

Raw food has a natural cleansing effect on your entire system, and this way of eating is also referred to as a “raw food diet detox”. Some people advocate going on a diet of raw food just a few weeks each of several times a year, and others find they prefer gradually changing totally to raw foodism as a way of life. This also happens to be the best detox diet, because it is a total body detox diet.

Try a raw food 30 day diet and it could be the start of the great American detox diet. The following information is geared for those who feel they will be unable to eat raw food for 30 days, or do not want to be on a total raw diet after a 30 day trial. Give it a try for 30 days, or transition to a more raw food diet per the advice below.

These four meal planning suggestions were mentioned in USA Weekend by EatSmart editor, Jean Carper. The tips are not directly related to beginning a raw food diet, but they serve as good advice for a transition, and are just a smart way to look at eating a healthy detox diet for anyone interested in being more independently healthy.

Number One – Fish Oil

Eat more omega-3-rich fatty fish oils. This can include eating fatty fish like salmon, or by taking fish oil supplements. Eating fish oil is heart smart, and research indicates that fish oil may also help cut the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, curb inflammation, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, skin problems, and even certain kinds of cancer. Gradually cut out red meat and chicken by eating more fish on the road to a raw diet.

Number Two – Antioxidants
You don’t need to necessarily know how antioxidants work, you just need to know that they are naturally part of detox diet foods for many reasons. Much evidence indicates that high antioxidant foods will cut your risk to many diseases. Foods packed with antioxidants include spinach, dark chocolate, garlic, onions, teas, purple grapes, red wines, and turmeric. Additionally, almost everyone knows that they should eat between 5 and 9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Just start to make a point to make it raw fruits and vegetables.

Number Three – Low-Glycemic Foods
Make a break from your bad habits and steer away from high sugar processed foods and beverages. Eating low-glycemic foods prevents blood sugar spikes and helps to avoid heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity. Avoid the starchy foods, and processed flour products and processed cereal products. Add these winners into your diet: legumes, nuts, lemon juice, vinegar, and cinnamon.

Number Four – Cut Your Calories
This one is obvious, but not easy for everyone. However, as you trend towards healthy foods you will find it just happens naturally. You don’t really have to worry about “counting calories”. Eating junk foods and snack foods has largely contributed to the current epidemic of obesity and chronic diseases. Eat right to keep fit and you will stay healthy, be happier, and live longer.

Even if you do not easily make the transition to a raw food detox diet, the four tips above will help you to eat better and feel better. Always look at changes in your diet as a new adventure and something to look forward too. Most people fail when they feel they are depriving themselves, or giving something up. The trick is to find healthy foods that you enjoy and then add them to your diet, replacing things that are not good for you, or have little or no food value (empty calories).
