Anyone try the Raw Food Diet?
I have been reading about the benefits of the raw food diet, and that it gives you more energy and better skin.
However, there are vitamin deficits of b12 and calcium. Can you supplement vitamins to take the place of the vitamins you aren’t getting?
Anyone have anything good or bad to say that have tried it?

I love eating raw. I try to do it most of the time.
I switched to a vegan diet about 6 months ago and I have lost weight, my skin is doing better and I do have have lots of energy. I sort of stumbled into eating a vegan diet by accident.
I wanted to do a detox diet so I bought the book. The Raw food detox diet by Natalia Rose and planned to try it for a full month. Once I started I loved it. It quickly became a lifestyle. I lost about 10lbs after about 3 months and have an overall feeling of well being. I like her approach to the raw food diet, its not all or nothing its different levels of the raw food diet that fits your lifestyle and food preference. The Rose plans suggest eating raw till dinner, then having a cooked dinner. I like her way of easing yourself into a healthier approach and outlook to diet in general, it really kept me motivated and positive about the whole thing.
You can get all the vitamins and nutrients you need from fruits, veggies, nuts and grains. I plan to go back to eating meat on occasion but at the moment I don’t really miss it.
My suggestion, do a little research and devise a plan that works best for your food preferences and your life style.
Good Luck
I went raw vegan two months ago. I feel super light and energetic. And I lost 2 pounds. (I weighed 132 lbs and I’m at 130 now). You can get calcium in a raw vegan diet, from Kale, nuts, seeds, lettuce, spinach, and broccoli. However I have purchased a little case of teeny little b12 pills. I take about 3 per month.
YES! ive been on it for 2 weeks now and all i can describe it as euphoric…its amazing. The way you think changes, you want to out in nature more oh man…its something you must experience.
I get my vitamin b12 from a supplement. And there is plenty of calcium in greens
You’ll love they way you feel..i recommend it for everyone…it feels like a heavy blanket has been lifted off me
Yes, it is good for energy and healthier skin and a stronger immune system! I have tried it, but I don’t stay on it consistently. You don’t have to do every single day forever to benefit. Just a few consecutive days a few times a month will be sufficient, but it’s really up to you! Supplements aren’t as good as getting them from food, but they will help during the times you are on the raw diet.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!!!
I tried it, it involves some creative food preparation. You do have to spend a lot of time preparing foods (though Whole Foods has a Raw Food Area).
I haven’t attempted it. I enjoy snacking on raw fruits and vegetables and I’m not a lazy cook by any stretch, but the cost involved, the limited nutrition aspect of it and the sheer inconvenience of it makes me wary to give it a shot.
Really, one of my favorite comforts is a hot bowl of soup and freshly baked bread. The thought of doing without that just makes me sad.
Not yet, but I heard the cookbook named "Raw, the uncook book" is excellent. I am trying to find a copy of it in Sydney Australia now.
i am raw and i dont have any deficiences. but if you worry you can take b12. calcium?totally unnecessary because you can get loads of calcium from your greens: broccoli, kale, etc. anyway ull lose weight if you need to and yea better skin more energy. its all good!
