can a big cockeroach be considered a meal for the raw food diet?
ok i dont trust commercial cat food at all.
nobody regulates it really.
its complete garbage.
i want to start my cat on the raw food diet, but all the research i do i dont understand it all sounds like "blah blah blah" with alot of words i cant define.
so is there like a "raw food diet for dummies?"
and where can i find the supplements for thet cats at?
and what the heck is a grinder?
im dumb, i need i explained to me like you would have to explain it to a 4 year old.
and were can i find really fast recipes?
do you realize thats what they would eat in the wild?
you feed your cat crap!
it will probably end up with a liver damage
so you know how much ash and fillers are in cat food, do your research.
the cat food companys slide buy with the minimal nutrients in it.
Also please dont awsner my question if you have no idea of the benifits of the raw food diet.
this is manly for people who are feeding there cats that.
So please refrain from anwsering my question if you are not educated in this topic

Good for you!!!!! I am a raw feeder of 14 cats and I’ve spent the last few years researching feline nutrition. It started with a cat we rescued that had IBD and after a year of messing around with high quality dry (boy was that an oxy-moron, there is no such thing) and then canned… we finally made it to raw and our IBD cat was miraculously cured, and raw also cured 2 of our other cats that suffered from stones and UTI’s.
I know exactly what you are feeling about feeling dumb and needing “raw food for dummies”. There are so many opinions out there about raw feeding that your head gets all bogged up and you just want to scream because you are so confused. LOL! You know you want to do the right thing for your animal, but there are so many ways to raw feed, you don’t know which one is right, and you don’t want to choose the wrong one.
After getting to the point you did, I made a decision to decide what I was going to choose was right for my cat. Meaning, I had to settle on something in my head, and feel good about the choice I was making. I finally did. I chose to feed Ground food because Mr. IBD kitty had lost so many teeth he couldn’t gnaw bones. And I chose my recipes from Catinfo.org and cat nutrition.org. I also choose to modify the diet a bit and make it match the nutritional value of whole prey a bit more to meet what I knew was right for a cat. You should not do this though unless you study feline nutrition.

I personally feed a ground Raw Meat, Bones and Organ based diet to my cats and they are very healthy on it. I HIGHLY recommend it. Once I got the hang of it and felt comfortable with it it’s a snap to prepare.
Cats are obligate carnivores after all and must derive ALL their nutrients from meat based sources. They are unable to absorb them from any other source. Despite thousands of years of domestication they remain strictly carnivorous. True and honest meat eaters and that is what they need most. Protein from meat!

i don’t know but my cats used to eat moths like they were candy
well a raw food diet is no better for your cat then commercial foods are. think about what you are doing to your cat. would you like it if you had to eat raw meat, veggies, rice, beans, and all others? i buy Eukanuba cat food. it is very good for my cat and she loves it.

Try Petsmart or Petco for cat supplements and vitamins…
and for its diet try Iams, those are really good…
but the cockroaches? That’s insane.
actually this raw food diet is really bad for your cat, cats have certain likes and dislikes so it is hard to tell what to fed it and it is easier for them to get sick and many types of cat food have nutrients in it to keep your cat healthy just feed your cat Purina or Iams.
talk to a cat breeder
ask them if they can get you on a raw food diet im not sure if this will work for cats but my aunt and uncle got that for there dogs and they get raw food regularly they get frozen packages of cow something (i think its cow stomach but not sure) and they just cook it in a pan and feed it to the dogs its healthier and what they would origonally eat in the wild with none of the crap in it.plus you know no animal testing was performed on the food. the only bad thing is this will cost you a lot more that why most people dont do it
i dont think cockroaches are a good idea though..that doesnt sound right talk to a breeder about..not a petstore person because none of them know anything about cats other than the products in the store

Why would you even consider feeding your cat a cockroach? Regardless of what diet BS you happen to believe. Cockroaches are filthy disease-ridden garbage-eating bugs. Yes cats will eat them, if they can’t find anything better. Doesn’t make it a good idea. And when’s the last time you ever saw an elderly wild animal? Never. Flaw number one in the "wild is better" thinking. Cats and dogs are DOMESTICATED, not wild and there is no way to know the long term effects of feeding raw. While you’re at it, why don’t you look up the textbook definitions of pet food terms so you don’t sound so stupid spouting off misinformation. There are NO proven benefits to feeding raw, just anecdotal opinions and theories. It may not be harmful, but there’s no proof of its benefits either, and anyway it’s just plain gross. I have small children in my house, I can’t imagine intentionally placing raw meat on the same floor they crawl around on.
Only the cheapest of the cheap foods slide by on bare minimums. So don’t feed your cat wal-mart brand. Read labels and pick ones that list meat first. I feed my cat purina proplan indoor, 40% protein on a dry matter basis, far higher than minimum standards.
You know how they test food on animals? They feed it to them, and a vet gives them a physical after a certain length of time. That is it. They may run some bloodwork or analyze their stools, but the cats and dogs are not killed, dissected, ground up and fed to other animals, or any of the other internet nonsense that is spouted on here.
Actually, cockroaches are very high in protein and a really good food, although we might think that is disgusting.
But if you are as dumb as you say you are (sorry, your words, not mine), just feed a high quality natural canned food – it’s so much easier and just as healthy. The home cooked and raw foods are complicated – you have to know what you are doing, so I wouldn’t recommend you do that. The supermarket foods and the dry kibble should not be fed to cats. They are terrible foods.
