Several health experts suggest that eating a completely raw vegan diet may rid our bodies of illness, but it’s still up to debate for some whether it is ideal for long-term health. Two famous health experts discuss this matter in an interview summarized in this article.

Every single effort has been made to transcribe the health interview correctly, but no statements should be accepted verbatim. We aren’t liable for mistakes or omissions. We aren’t associated with the people in the discussed audio interview.

In a thought provoking interview, Matt Monarch, known raw foodist, challenges Daniel Vitalis to prove why a raw diet for the long-term might not be as beneficial as several people may think.

Daniel states that he himself does not think that it is confirmed that the raw vegan diet has any benefit more than any other way of eating. He says there has by no means been any proven report of any society living successfully on raw food alone, however that the reverse in reality is archaeologically recorded throughout history.

Daniel thinks that when he, him self, was on the raw food diet, his calorie intake was not enough and tries to get Matt to explain how he obtains a sufficient quantity of calories with this diet. Matt explains his thought that the body can survive on very little calories.

Matt says that being on raw food only, cleansed him to a degree where he is so clean that he is actually able to take in the important nutrients from the food much easier than somebody who is not on a raw diet.

At the time of the interview, Daniel indicates that most of the foods we consume today are extremely domesticated, that although in the “raw” form, are so genetically modified as well as altered that they are basically not at the highest nutrient value they used to be, beginning in their “wild” form.

When the talk focused on Daniel and why he moved from raw food into a much more traditional “cooked food” diet, he said the shift was easy. He points out that in his mind, there are really no true vegan diets. After discussing all sorts of fertilizer used to make these “organic” as well as “raw” foods grow, Matt appears a bit perplexed when Daniel inquires about how he grows his crops and if he uses any specific fertilizer produced from animals.

Daniel continues to talk about how the foods we all eat today are so far gone from their actual, wild state that the raw vegan diet does not necessarily provide all the nutrients we need today anyhow. He says that to get maximum health benefits, we all would need to be eating the foods in their wild form, where heating the food can still give even more nutritional as well as medicinal value as compared to the “raw” food that is usually accessible.

Finally, the two food experts come to an agreement that everybody is distinct and everybody has differing requirements. While Matt seems established in his ways, feeling strongly regarding a raw diet, Daniel Vitalis is firmly of the opinion that the foods we offer today (whether from a garden or a shop), have been modified so significantly that we do not identify with what the food used to be. He also indicates that while many medicinal herbs tend to be a completely new concept, early Chinese medicines have been utilizing them for centuries, with proven results in assisting with health and longevity.

I am eighteen years old and am approaching the 200 pound mark. Blah!
I am fully committed to losing 80-90 pounds, and need some help!!!
See, my family is filled with big people. We cook lots of rice and grew up used to eating large portions of food. I know I can change this, but living this way for my whole life has blurred me to what foods are healthy and what not.

I know that cake, cookies, sugary drinks, and pasta are out. I am okay with that.

So then, what should I eat? As far as meals for breakfast lunch and dinner? Am I allowed to have any low calorie snacks in between?
Let me know of some foods/meals that helped you lose weight!

[And I am following this diet plan with excersise as well]

And, what is everyone’s opinion on protein shakes? And when is best to drink them?

I started the atkins diet four days ago and I am running out of food choices. I have been living on meat, eggs, cheese and pork rinds. Does anyone have any suggestions? The induction phase seems more restrictive.

it is known that "all raw-food" diets change eye color gradually over a few months.
but i dont think i can eat all raw food.
especially since im only a teen still living at home, its not exactly easy to make your parents change what they buy and cook [or not cook for that matter!]. and i just dont think i would be able to do it… i love cooked food! like chicken and pasta.. i could never become a vegetarian [which is basically what this diet is..] so how many raw things would i have to eat along with my meals [normal cooked ones like usual] in order for this eye color change to take affect?

i only want those who know about this to answer. i dont want to bother reading those who say "its impossible to change your eyecolor" because it isnt..

please can someone give me the answer i am looking for?
i would love to have more information on this!!
it is very interesting.
thank you all!!!!! :]
it actually does change eye color.

sorry to disappoint you, but it has worked on many.

I am a 21 year old female. I’ve always been really healthy and active, up until a few years ago. In these last few years, I have had 4 really close friends pass away, a boss, a long time family friend, and my grandfather. With all of the stress, I’ve just stopped caring about myself and my appearance and just based my life on "there may not be a tomorrow". As a result, I am now overweight and not as health as I should be. I am 5’3” and my weight fluctuates between 178-183. I am really trying to get into a healthy living lifestyle (diet, exercise etc.) again. My question is this: When I start working out, is it better to start off slowly and take things easy, or to jump into an intense routine full force?…. and as well go for a new diet. Also is it better to try an actual diet or just change my eating habits and perhaps focus on eating certain foods?

It says in "A Fish Keepers Guide To Fancy Goldfish written by Dr. Chris Andrews" that Goldfish needs a variety in their diet. So far I have 3 small Fantails. One sometimes feeds at the top, but most of the time is a "bottom feeder". The other two feed at the top. I fed them mostly flakes, but Im gonna make a diet with VARIETY! Here’s all the Freeze-Dried foods they could have…but WHERE CAN I GET ‘EM?!?!?!?

-Water Fleas
-Blood Worms

And here’s Live foods…..

Hi, I have mild acne and I recently found out that supposedly almost every food causes acne (dairy, oil, fats, etc.) 3 days ago i decided to eat nothing but fruits and vegetables and drink nothing but water and 100% fruit juice to attempt to cleanse my body. I can’t keep living off these foods because I love meat and sandwiches but I guess they will make my acne worse. I have not eaten chocolate, ice cream, or anything greasy such as fast food in probably 5 months. With the fruit diet I noticed a small skin imporvement but I feel less energized and light-headed constantly. I drink plent of water (6-8 cups a day). I take Proactiv for a topical treatment to couple the diet and speed up the healing process. I am going 1 more day on the diet then stopping. What are some foods I can eat other than fruits and vegetables that won’t make my acne worse? Help please? (Also, I’m 16 no complicated recipes please)

Hi all,

I like to choose natural and organic foods for both moral and health reasons…plus I just think they taste better. I love Whole Foods so much, but even when I shop sales and utilize their coupons, I find I am spending too much money! I tried Trader Joes and I love the atmosphere and definitely found a few staples (great tea and waffles!), but I am sorry to say alot of their produce and meats went bad immediately or just didn’t taste right.

I am very budget conscious being a Graduate Student of engineering so it’s hard for me to stick to a natural foods diet. To make it harder, my husband does body building part time in addition to his regular job as a dietician…and he not only eats a TON but he is also a total carnivore sometimes! I like meat, but I find it so expensive to buy without it being pumped full of antibiotics and totally abused while it was alive, so if I had my way I wouldn’t buy nearly as much of it as we do.

We are basically looking for ways to buy things like cage-free eggs, organic product, non antibiotic pumped and abused animal products, bread, organic wine, anything like this on a budget? Any ideas out there? I live in the Boston area if that helps.

All serious insight welcome and 10 pts to the best answer. If you don’t like my life style choices then please don’t comment because I have no intention of joining the fast food band wagon.

Thanks!!
We live in a city apartment and have no yard. Also, farmer markets are a good idea thanks, but in New England we tend to not have any as winter approaches.

I’m getting so pissed off at having to eat bad tasting foods. I usually eat breakfast and dinner before/after work at my fav spanish restaurant and then come home to eat her bad tasting diet dinner.

But on the weekends I’m home with nothing to eat??
Goddamn it tastes so crappy?
She’s not understanding that I would rather eat tasty food then live a few years extra?

I’m trying to halt some health conditions that I feel have been caused or aggravated by following the S.A.D. for the better part of my 49 years. Psoriasis, visceral obesity, hypertension (but oddly, only October-March, yearly), and diabetes-type 2 are my immediate concerns. About 10 years ago, I tried to go 100% vegetarian, but achieved only about 90%, stopping at lacto-ovo with 0% soy. My dairy is limited to that which is present in processed foods (e.g., store-bought baked goods and frozen entrees) and half-n-half in an occasional cup of decaf coffee. And, in an effort to lose some of my excess weight, I’ve recently learned about and am trying a raw & living food diet (RALF–a terrible but spot-on acronym)…but, I have some reservations.

1. I am gluten sensitive…reactive but not a full-blown celiac.
2. I wear dentures, meaning nuts & seeds must be ground almost to flour for comfortable consumption.
3. Some raw veggies, such as carrots, cauliflower & broccoli, present chewing discomfort (see #2 above), unless they’re liquefied, prepared very finely, or dehydrated & ground.
4. And last but not least, no matter how many green shakes & salads and whole fruits I consume, I’m always left with an overwhelming craving for "bad-carb" comfort foods…like potatoes, pasta, breads, and far worse, cookies or crackers.

So, can you please recommend some good- or low-carb RALF options?

(BTW, I do take gymnema daily, but it only curbs the carb cravings; it does not eliminate them.)

I had never really eaten all that well in the past. But about 6 months ago, I changed my eating habits drastically… I live on a Vegan diet, and strictly organic foods. Since the change in my diet, I have noticed that when I started exercising again, it feels GREAT! It’s ecstatic! It feels like I am on drugs haha. Anyways, what I am asking is… Does healthy food really have this affect? Or was I just a lazy bastard who was ignorant to the beauty of exercise?

I am going to college soon, and I am thinking about getting a crested gecko because I have heard that they do not need live food, or any insects for that matter, and that they can survive on the Repashy crested gecko diet. Can someone tell me if this is correct and if not, what kind of insects/food do crested geckos really need and how much will owning one cost? Thanks to all who answer!!!

Okay so earlier this year I started to have really weird dreams. After about two weeks I wrote down what I saw in my dreams and to me it felt like past life related sort of. So I started to do a lot of spiritual things like learn how to astral travel, meditation, the use of ki and the list goes on. It felt great and I wanted to live like this because I thought soon enough I could be connected with me subconscious better.

One thing I was reading about is that if you stop eating cooked foods and meat your spiritual vibration rises up intensely. So i started to do this and nobody in my family understands because i never told them about me being spiritually connected. Also this food diet includes that you ONLY eat raw foods fruits and vegetables and thats it along with milk too. Do you have any suggestions of how i can explain this?

before any gets too heated (at least if this is anything like the cat section!) I DON’T have a dog. I am asking this for future reference… just to store the information away for later.

I sort of recently switching my cat to an all wet food diet (not an easy feat since he loves dry food, was never fond of wet food, and I still live at home and my parents feed their cat dry food, which is left out all day…). I know closely inspect the ingredients before I buy him anything and have a few brands and flavors he likes so I can mix it up for him.

anyway, recently I’ve been wondering if we were wrong about dogs too… are they healthier on an all wet food diet? half and half? no wet food?

we ha a siberian husky who had kidney failure and cancer that went to her brain… she was put down on december 12 2005 and I just want to prevent anything like that from happening to future dogs, I’ve heard all dry food can cause kidney failure?
dry food cleans your pets teeth about as much as a potato chip cleans your teeth…
I have done EXTENSIVE research on my cat’s diet and I was not asking for advice on that, but thanks anyway.

I am 30 years old and have always been thin, but within the past year have gained more weight than ever before! I am now up to 130, which is the heaviest I have ever been. I used to weigh around 120 or less and had no problem with weight. I do not have the money to buy expensive healthy food because I still live at home with my parents and am currently on unemployment. What are some easy, cheap ways to lose about 10-15 pounds?

My Girlfriend & I have been put in a predicament. I’m 16 & she’s 15. We were both living in Abusive situations. Her Family was slowly killing her. They were feeding her nothing but junk & Verbally, Emotionally & occasionally Physically Abusing her.

She has PCOS, Tachycardia & Asthma. They do nothing but Smoke & Insult her all day long. They also have have Roaches & Fleas & their House is literally falling apart & they refuse to do anything about it. My Parents are Alcoholics & don’t do anything but Drink, Eat, Sleep & Throw anything they can get their hands on at me.

We are both Obese but I’m not asking this to lose weight. We moved in w/ each other about 2 months together & are just barely getting by. We are both going to Night School & I work Full Time at the Local Garage & any Odd Jobs that I can. She works Part-Time at the Local Library.

She’s Smart enough into College & actually wants to go, I’m not planning on College. I might have to Drop out & get my GED so I’ll have more time to work. We literally just cannot Afford anything but Canned Foods, Rice, Beans, Potatoes & the Fruits & Veggies on Sale. Usually Carrots, Iceberg Lettuce, Bananas, Grapes & Peaches. That’s including what the Local Church gives us.

I asked this on another site & got nothing but rude comments about how my Girlfriend & I are just Trailer Trash who shouldn’t have gotten knocked up. I want to clarify on this site. My Girlfriend is NOT Pregnant, we didn’t just move in together so we could have Sex whenever we felt like. We are both Virgins, sleep in different rooms & we will remain that way until Marriage. So don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

We can’t get Food Stamps because we’re not Emancipated or Married & we don’t have a Kid. I know that it won’t be the most Healthy Diet but it’s all we can do. If you can Suggest some Vitamins and a Guideline or Menu or something that would be great. I really appreciate the help.
