Raw Food Diet Archives

The raw foods diet draws around the fact that essentially the most healthy food items for the body is raw. Though virtually all foods are eaten raw, warming up food is appropriate so long as the temperature remains below 104 to 118 degrees Fahrenheit (the actual cutoff heat range may differ amongst each raw food group). Cooking food is believed to clean out the digestive nutrients by natural means contained in foodstuff. According to raw foodists, enzymes are definitely the life force of the food, assisting us to soak up food as well as absorb nutrition. When we over eat cooked dishes, our body is required to keep working harder by generating a lot more digestive support enzymes. Eventually, deficiencies in enzymes from foods are believed to lead to digestive issues, nutritional deficiency, faster aging, and unwanted weight. Cooking meals can reduce its minerals and vitamins. For instance, the cancer-fighting elements in broccoli, sulforaphanes, are decreased greatly when it is cooked.

Specific natural vitamins, like vitamin c and folate, are destroyed by high temperature. Other food products, however, turn out to be much more healthful after cooking, since the fibrous ratio is divided. For instance, cooked tomatoes comprise of three to four times more lycopene than uncooked tomatoes. Cooking meals also stimulates the introduction of possibly damaging substances in food throughout high temperatures, like complex glycation end items as well as heterocyclic amines. There are in fact different ways that people adhere to a raw detox diet. Lots of people that consume a raw food diet regime are vegetarian. A few eat raw animal items, such as raw milk, cheese made from raw milk, sashimi, ceviche (uncooked fish), or carpaccio (uncooked meat). A lot of people consume solely raw foods, and some include cooked meals for convenience and variety. The share of raw food is usually 70 Percent or more within the diet regime.
Raw food detoxing diet programs or cleansing are stepping into the mainstream. Individuals commonly set about a detoxing diet program for a 3 week period.

Following a detoxing diet or cleansing, they might continue on a raw food diet program, return to their standard diet plan, or try to enhance their diet by consuming a lot more raw food. The particular raw food eating plan includes less trans fats and saturated fats compared to the standard Traditional western diet. It is also lower in sodium and sugars and rich in potassium, folate, magnesium, vitamin a, fibers and health-promoting vitamin antioxidant’s. These features are related with a lowered prospect of illnesses including heart disease, all forms of diabetes, and a lot of varieties of cancer. For instance, analysis printed inside the Journal of Nutrition found that intake of an raw food diet program decreased plasma total cholesterol as well as triglyceride levels. The raw food diet plan can be thought to have a very positive acid-alkaline balance, remaining lower in acid-forming foods. Too much acidity within the body is shown to bring about sickness. Apart from the quick strengths, the raw food diet regime may well in theory slower aging and reduce irritation, since it consists of less superior glycation end items and also other probably detrimental substances.

Nuts are healthy. Nuts are unhealthy. Nuts are full of fat so avoid them. There’s Omega 3 fats in nuts so eat them. There is a debate raging about the health benefits of eating those delightful little treats that we know as nuts.

The debate rages, because there is no doubt that nuts are high in fat. And yet it is also well-known that not all fat is bad for you, and that although some types, particularly saturated fat which is commonly found in animal products, is bad for you, the essential fatty acids known as the Omega 3 fats are good for you. There’s Omega 3 in nuts, but there is also saturated fat.

Confused yet? Many people are, and I’ll confuse you further.

You see there is a number of different types of the “Omega” fats. Almost everyone knows about Omega 3, but less well known is that there is another type called Omega 6 which, whilst also an essential fatty acid, is one that most of us eat too much of, and this isn’t good for us.

And whilst there is Omega 3 in nuts there is also Omega 6. And the 6 isn’t so good for most of us.

And yet there is research showing that there is a wide range of nutrients in nuts, including many of the important vitamins and minerals. Research has shown that eating nuts may help reduce the risk of breast cancer or type II diabetes and lower cholesterol.

As many are high in calcium they may also offer the benefits of increased calcium consumption.

And yet they are also very calorie dense. If you’re looking to lose weight you certainly don’t want to be wolfing down handfuls of nuts, not unless we want to reduce your calorie intake in some other way to account for this.

So to return to the question in our title, should you be eating nuts?

It’s not a question with a clear answer, it’s one of those annoying questions which is answered with “it depends”. However there is very little evidence that eating nuts in moderation is bad for you, although it might add a little weight. And there is some evidence that eating nuts in moderation can be good for you, but remember that important word, moderation.

However if you’re eating those tasty little treats purely because there is Omega 3 in nuts, then don’t bother. There are much better Omega 3 rich foods.

Not only that but the type of Omega 3 is not the best type, the type found in nuts is one called ALA. The Omega 3 fat found in fish is DHA and EPA, and there is clear evidence that these are much more important to your health than ALA.

So if you’re looking for Omega 3 in foods, bypass the nuts and eat fish. Oily fish in particular is the best type, though even eating fish has it’s conundrums, because a lot of fish is contaminated with toxins such as Mercury and PCBs.

Probably the best way to get your Omega 3 is by taking Omega 3 supplements. Note that not all supplements are high quality.

But don’t swear off nuts. They’re yummy, full of nutrients, and crunchy. But don’t eat them by the handful.

And to find out more about the Omega 3 essential fatty acids click here to visit my website.

When you’re seeking to have success with your weight reduction with a new eating regimen plan, one factor that you need to ensure that you’re not overlooking is getting in ample protein. Protein does increase your metabolism so you can burn extra energy all day, but protein is also going to be essential to preserve your lean muscle mass for the lengthy haul. Sadly though, lack of protein is the one factor that the most people battle with either as a result of they do not know which foods to eat that are rich in protein or they do not like the taste of protein rich foods.

Let’s take a look at some easy and quick strategies that you should utilize to extend the protein content in your weight loss program so you can get closer to your goal.

Combine Yogurt With Cottage Cheese:

While yogurt is definitely a great snack to eat and can offer you some protein, it is not as high in complete protein content as cottage cheese. Many people dislike the cottage cheese by itself, nevertheless, as an alternative, attempt mixing it along with your favorite brand of yogurt. Top this with some contemporary berries and a tablespoon of flaxseeds for some wholesome fats and you’ll have a nutritious and satisfying snack.

Put together Oatmeal With Milk:

A second method to enhance your protein consumption during the day is to make your bowl of oatmeal with some milk rather than water. Milk has nearly ten grams of protein per cup, so when you use half a cup preparing oatmeal and then pour the other half a cup on top after it is cooked, you may have a more balanced breakfast meal. Milk can also be important for supplying your body with the necessary calcium it needs for strong bones, so that’s a secondary benefit you may get from this.

Top Your Salad With Salmon:

One other fast and easy technique to actually improve the protein content of your diet is to have your lunch salad with some canned tuna or salmon. Both are great sources of protein and take simply seconds to prepare. As an added benefit, they’ll rapidly enliven your salad as well.

Combine Protein Powder Into Baked Foods:

Finally, the last quick tip to get extra protein in your food regimen is to combine protein powder in any of the baking that you’re doing. Protein works great when substituted for half the flour in most recipes as in muffins, protein bars, and even cookies. The added flavor will also improve the overall taste of the food as well.

I would like to discuss my view on the raw food diet. I understand the concept that heating food may destroy valuable enzymes and the body will need to take from the finite pool of enzymes to help in digesting the food. I can also say that when eating a raw diet for any length of time, I feel wonderful!

So then, what is all the talk about requiring animal products in the diet? Some well respected former raw foodists and some other health speakers are saying that a raw vegan diet may not be ideal for the long term. The opinions differ somewhat although some of them think that meat in the diet is vital for DHA, an essential fatty acid, allegedly not available in a raw vegan diet. As far as I understand, DHA is what feeds our brain and I believe it also contributes to ocular health.

From my research on this “concern” I found that essential fats are ample in some seeds, nuts and plant foods, but not the essential DHA. But, with further study on the topic I learned that there is a product available that contains DHA from algae, and algae qualifies as vegan.

I also found that, given sufficient EFA’s in our diet from vegetable sources (avocados, flax and walnuts for example.), our body is able to produce usable DHA from them. Mind you, it could be more “effort” than you like to put on your body, and it may require some extra nutrients that could be beneficial in different parts of the body. However, with the mass amounts of more absorbable nutrients you get from raw foods, that may not be a concern. However, as mentioned previously, a vegan product with DHA is now readily available.

I have no intention to discuss the misnomer that protein is not available from plant food because I assume at this point that idea has been proven wrong, but an additional oft-discussed problem regarding the raw foods diet is the availability of the very important vitamin B12, that is thought to just be found in meat. A lot of raw food eaters will say the same thing and then go on to promote a vegan supplement with B12 in which “they use themselves”. But, a quick read of the Chlorella Factor at chlorellafactor.com will probably alter your perception about that. Once more, algaes contributing to health.

Finally I would like to give you my thoughts on the raw diet for longevity. To keep it real I do not really know. However, I feel that there is no doubt that a completely natural raw vegan diet is a very good tool to detox as well as heal from ill health and perhaps disease.

Being that I am not certain about being on a raw food diet indefinitely, I stick to a mostly raw, high plant derived diet unless I am detoxing. I drink a lot of juices and green smoothies but I also add some cooked eggs, bee by-products such as bee pollen and occasionally some small fish.

Several years back I was waiting in the office of my skin doctor having a routine visit right after he had found (as well as removed) a skin cancer from my face. This was among several 5-year bi-monthly visits where checks and tests were run to be sure that there was no recurrence of the skin cancer.

I recall him walking in and seen some worry over my face as I was anticipating the results. He told me instantly that the results were good (as always). He recommended, like every other visit, to try to prevent from getting burnt by the sun, which will help make getting melanoma less likely. He also repeated that even though melanoma is the most deadly cancer, it is also the most curable, if caught soon enough, therefore make sure to not miss any appointments.

Always being conscious that food plays a role in health, and knowing that this specific doctor was “health conscious” being that he was a vegetarian and came to work on a bike most days, on this particular visit I thought to bring up food. Even though I sort of ate “whatever” at that time, I asked “isn’t what we eat a huge factor in our health and our ability to fight disease?”. His reply was along the lines of “you don’t eat processed foods and you eat plenty of greens, so what else can you do”.

I believe that was his way of suggesting a whole foods diet. As I dove right in educating myself about nutrition, whole foods, the different diets, it ultimately brought me to the concept of vegetarianism, as well as veganism. I figured that those diets equated to health however that’s not always the case, so I continued with my exploration to uncover how to be the most healthy.

When I learned about raw foodism, I felt that was the answer. I felt eating a raw, organic, vegan diet was the perfect way to eat. I’m not so convinced now that the “regular” raw food diet is “it” after studying a little more. I tuned in to lots of interviews with Daniel Vitalis in relation to “wild plants“, and it really made sense to me. He talks about how wild foods are “more powerful” and that these plants may tap a root through various layers of cement just to survive. Also, they frequently have medicinal characteristics that could help to “tonify” our tissues and organs.

He has said that a lot of what we consume, or a lot of what raw foodies and vegans consume is what he refers to as domesticated foods, foods that were altered over the years to become new versions of old foods. I believe he said that the domesticated banana, being totally different from its’ wild counterpart, is likened to the distinction between a chihuahua (a domesticated dog) and a wolf.

With that said, what’s the approach to “going wild”? It’s not always easy for individuals to walk through the forest, find wild health food and prepare teas, tinctures, salads, etc, but there is something that we could do. “Bitters” are available in food stores, and these could be the closest to “wild” foods that are offered “domestically”.

Some of the typical “bitter” green veggies that I personally include in my food regime are: dandelion greens, arugula, collard greens, watercress and sometimes endive. Spinach and kale may qualify as bitters nevertheless we’re already adding those into our diets aren’t we? :)

Hey,

I was just curious as to what both the pros and cons of going on a raw food diet would be.

I was also looking to find a few website resources: The ones I looked at seemed to be a bit lacking in detail.

I recently went on a raw food diet (3 days ago)
the past couple days I’ve felt sick, and today I have diarrhea, but I don’t feel sick today.
Do you think its some form of detoxifying my body?
Ive barely had any bowel movements before today in the past couple of days.
Sorry to be so graphic, but I need help.
a raw food diet (lifestyle) really only consists of plant foods. So I’m not sick from eating raw meat.
Thanks for the concern though

My cat has IBD. I tried every food on the market and she still has diarrhea like 5 times a day all over my house. So, I was doing some research and came across a page about raw cat food. I went on youtube and watched videos of cats eating raw food, how to prepare the raw food. I was amazed to read that cats suffering from IBD where cured in less than week. I want to know if anyone had the same problem and feed their cats with raw diet food had the same outcome as the cats on youtube? please write to me and let me know?? I am very desperate, I don’t know what to do anymore, this is my last thing to try. Thank you
Yes, Yes, thats the site. In youtube also, OMG its great, they give out recepies, I watched videos. I seen my cats poop tonight its not as wattery as used to be. Is it posible its already working??
