Does eating salads for lunch, which is way less than I used to eat, slowing down my metabolism?
I wanted to lose like 5lbs so I started eating salads for lunch even after playing around 2 hours of tennis. After I noticed I was not feeling even close to being full, I started back to eating sandwhiches. Now I feel energy and feel like my metabolism has sped up again. I just wonder if that is possible.

Yes.
You don’t mention what type of salad your eating.
You can try a sm 1/4-1/2 chicken breast to your salad.
Your sandwhich is fine…try removing the bread from it.
Roll your meat and eat it that way. I used to make a sm bowl of tomato and cucs them my meat sprickle w/pepper rolled up.
So you loose the bread and the condiment. Every little bit counts. But 2hrs of tennis you need something back into your body. Health is #1 ! I know I would be shaking on empty :-) after a work out like that.
the reason you were not feeling full after salad is because there is no carbohydrates in a salad which is what makes you feel full. and when eating a sandwich the bread is a carbohydrates which is why you are feeling fuller.
there are different types of food. high GI and Low GI and medium GI, try eating foods with High GI, like multi grain breads because they take longer to break down which makes you feel fuller for longer which wont make you feel hungry.
Your metabolism has nothing to do with the fact that you felt hungry your metabolism is the metabolic rate at which your body breaks down food. the only way to slow it down is to stop eating, or not eat enough.
So yes it is possible you feel hungrier after just eating a salad but its not because your metabolism slowed down.
Recently it has been proven that something in salads decreases your thyroid activity.
Underactive thyroid – Gain/Retain weight
Overactive thyroid – Lose weight
