my ex bf was a raw food vegan, i say was b/c i don't talk to him and am not sure if he still is, however he lost a lot of weight. along with droppin pounds he ate a helluva lot more and was more open to tryin new things. one down side of it was his smell, you know when you take the lid off of steamin brocolli? that's what he smelled like. his doctor gave him a clean bill of health. durin the time that we still talked he was very happy with it. i believe if you have the will power you can do it. but don't jus do it to loose some weight...this is a type of choice to change your life because as soon as you stop the weight will come back. good luck~!

Sushi has yet to kill me. Neither have fruits. While I do not know if you will lose weight, just stay away from obvious sources of e. coli and salmonella and you should be fine.

the THEORY is that cooking destroys the healthy enzymes in foods (at least the foods which are edible when still raw).

There aren't too many health problems with it.
But the menu isn't exactly loaded with tasty stuff.
It includes mostly vegetables and lots of weird edible plants to supplement the nutrients which are easily gotten from meats & dairy, but not from your supermarket produce aisle.

I'd suggest sampling it, and then using it to supplement your own normal diet if you like it. Don't go TOTAL raw, just pick out the good stuff and enjoy it on the side. Any benefit is better than none at all.

I don't believe this raw food diet is safe. If eating just fruits and vegetables was healthy, we wouldn't be recommended to eat grains at all. I think you would be malnourished, just because youre body wouldn't be getting enough calories! Besides, fat is necessary for growth and development, especially for females. Not getting those calories and fats could present major problems in the near future. Trust me on this one; several doctors have repeatedly given me this information without communicating with each other.
