I am newly "raw". I was 100% for a couple weeks and felt really great, but something was missing. I added some sprouted grains and eat cooked beans a few times a week and that seems to be working perfectly for me (letting the beans germinate and grains sprout makes them more digestable and can even raise the nutritional value). My husband has been having tougher time with it – he’s about 75% raw. In the past year I have gone from eating like CRAP to completely turning my nutritional life around. I think I needed to go to the opposite extreme so that I could settle somewhere comfortable. Once I get settled in a new, healthy routine I see myself eating loads of fresh fruits and veggies and the occasional stews, soups, breads and other healthy foods. Eating raw has helped me to see how much junk I was eating and I thought I was a pretty healthy eater! No more processed sugar ("organic" sugar and "turbinado" sugar is still processed sugar!). No more margarine with every other meal, even if it’s Earth balance. No more cooking everything to mush. I have a good arselnal of raw recipes that I can use. I have reached a point where a baked potato loaded with salsa or some corn tortillas are a big treat. That’s pretty rad and I know I couldn’t have gotten to this point if I hadn’t made the plunge to go raw. Give it a try for a week and see what a difference it can make.
no. . .I am vegetarian. .but my dog is on raw :)
I have for about a year, but I couldn’t meet the nutritional needs and decided having cooked food was okay. I wanted to still be a vegan after that, but my parents forced me to be vegetarian unless I wanted to eat meat. Yeah right, I chose the vegetarian option.
No but you will get sick of it. You should just incorporate MORE of those things in your diet with a little but of complex carbs :)
Yes, for 7 months, 100% raw. I am a certified raw food teacher now through Alissa Cohen. In a raw food diet, you can also have sprouted grains.
Raw Chili is the best! It is made with sprouted barley as the "meat" of the chili.
It’s easy to do, and EXTREMEMLY healthy!
Wow, that takes will power to be on that. I am a vegetarian and it already requires a ton of will power. It requires alot of vitamins to be on the all raw diet. Also, there isn’t much variety so I don’t think I would every do it. I hope I could help.
no but I’d love to try it.
yes, but the nuts and seeds are first raw, then soaked in water for 12 to 24 hrs then baked at low temp,. below 150 degree in the oven for 30 mins.
and alot of vegetables, lots of fruit and dried fruit
on the raw food diet you are allowed to eat 10% cooked food
so you don’t go crazy, so i would eat some steamed vegg or oatmeal or rice for dinner, but it can only count toward 10% or less of total food intake.
ya but i only lasted for three days
Yes, I ate only fresh fruits and veggies for 2 weeks straight on two occasions and lost 6 pounds each time– and kept it off! It cleans out your systmem until you don’t even want to eat the crap you used to anymore. It’s hard but also really great. I did cheat a tiny bit though sometimes, I’ll have to admit. I would get very very hungry for protein so I would eat a tiny bit of beans or tofu if I simply couldn’t stand it.
