If i stop eating meat, will i lose weight or energy or both?
i need to lose a couple of pounds and i’ve been thinking of becoming a vegetarian not only for weight issues but for my health too. i don’t eat bread or any wheat product, drink soda or juicy (i only drink water), i dont eat fast foods, pasta, or anything sweet. and i exercise like crazy.. so my question is will i lose weight if i stop eating meat or will it screw up my metabolism?

you will lose some weight. You will lose some energy at first, your body will eventually get use to the no meat diet.
=]
you will not lose weight
but you’ll lose energy because in order to lose weight, you need to eat HEALTHY not stop eating.
and just as a question, if you’re not eating wheat or meat, what ARE you eating?
you might want to start taking vitamins or something.
if you’re looking to cut down on your meat for weight reasons, then look for lean meat: like fish instead of beef and chicken. also look for meat that doesn’t have a lot of fat. that way your metabolism won’t be compromised, you’ll be getting your daily necessary amount of meat, and you’ll be losing weight.
also, it’s probably good to eat some whole grain foods, to help your health. remember that weight isn’t the main concern: a healthy diet is what you should probably aim for.
hope this helped!

you would most likely lose weight going vege because meat is high in fat, mostly red meat. You need to eat alot of green veges like spinach, cabbage, salads, and also tofu, soy, and nuts. Rice is also good if you dont eat wheat or other pastas. It cant screw up your metabolism :) goodluck!!
Both definately, but you can replace that meat with better sources of proteins such as beans, peas, fish, etc.
And eating atleast even one slice of wheat bread a day is healthy-esp for us women, as it provides folic acid-a vitamin women desperately need in their system to produce healthy babies.
The body needs a certain percentage of body fat. 20- 35 percent daily values, i think. Stay away from Trans fat. Also Saturated fat is bad for you. Polyunsaturated and monounsaturated are good for you, also omega fatty acids are very important for you body. Try canola, or palm kernal oil. These eliminate saturated fatty acids, because they have mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Each double bond releases a hydrogen, and is better for you.
Fat can be very bad for you, but you also need a little for protection of internal organs, insulation of heat, and to bear children.
If you are going to completley quit eating meat, I would suggest starting by eliminating red meat. Keep grilled chicken and fish around as much as possible. But again, if you are going to quit eating meat all together, make sure your supplement your protiens. An example would be:rice and beans. Seperatley they are not complete. Together they offer all nine essential amino acids. Good luck!
Simply not eating meat won’t cause you to lose weight or energy. A diet must be well balanced in order to be healthy and promote a healthy weight. Many vegetarians eat a diet full of junk food-just because the term sounds healthy doesn’t make it so. Being vegetarian is certainly healthy if done right-you need a good BALANCE of nutrients, from grains, fruits, vegetables, healthy vegetable fats, protein (such as from beans, legumes, pulses, etc), leafy greens, iron rich vegetables etc. If you decide to do this, you should get some books on it from your library to make sure you get everything you need. My 14 year old daughter has been vegetarian for many years, and she is as fit and healthy as can be-she has none of the problems her friends do, such as acne, overweight, etc. She has terrific skin, hair, nails, and is a perfect weight. She drinks a lot of good water (not tap or "purified" water, which is just bottled tap water). Her diet is very well balanced and her annual blood check shows she is getting all of the nutrients she needs (she does not take supplements or vitamins-she gets it all from healthy vegetarian, organic sources. If you have stubborn weight that does not seem to change despite your efforts, ask your doctor to run a thyroid profile on you-that is often a cause of excess weight. good luck!
Portion size per meal is what is important and exercising 3-4 times a week for 20 minutes.
example: ½ cup veggies of two different kinds of veggies and/or fruits, one roll of wheat bread or corn tortilla. Pork chops (4") and fish or sardines. An apple/orange/banana as a late snack is good.
And after you exercise, it’s best to eat within the hour cause your body is still burning calories for that long.
When I stopped eating meat I actually gained energy.
Okay, Veggie was FINE, I felt the same, but VEGAN was a different story.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being vegan, but you really need to get in that protein! Tofu is really great acutally. I was kinda… weirded out when I first tried it, but it is really good and it’s very easy to adjust to.
Veggie only cuts out some food, so you probably wouldn’t loose weight, but vegan did make me loose tons of weight.
I’m still of healthy weight, so all is good! :]
No, just the opposite! – meat slows the metabolism and digestion. It takes so long to digest it actually rots in your intestines. GROSS. Eat plenty of rice, beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, nuts, fruit, veg. You will be thin and sexy in no time!!! Oh also take a good ‘whole food’ multivitamin. They are a little expensive but are so much better. Good Luck!!
Okay, first of all that is not a healthy diet, you’re messing up your metabolism by doing those things alone! Try getting whole grain for your bread and pasta. You won’t lose energy, i’m a vegetarain and i didn’t! Just make sure you replace your meat with some protein. (Nuts, beans, tofu, etc.)
