Question about the RAW FOOD DIET?
Hi gang, ok, I’m new to the Raw Food Diet and quite excited; not a lot of people around me do it so I don’t know who to ask my millions of questions until I remembered you guys… Ok, so you don’t have to eat cold foods just because they’re raw correct? i’m told not to use a microwave so where do i heat up my meals? do i pop ‘em in the oven at 100 degrees but for how long? can i freeze fruits to make sorbets? Thanks u guys.

Raw does not always equal cold. Some blenders will heat food, which is helpful if you are making a raw soup (but annoying if you are making a smoothie). Many raw foodists have a dehydrator, which uses a lower temperature than an oven. If you do use your oven, get some kind of food thermometer so you can monitor the temperature.
Try heating foods in the sun. They will soak up all that wonderful solar energy. Use the thermometer though; sun-heated foods can get well above 115 degrees.
Freezing fruit is fine, but remember that food will lose some enzymes from freezing. Don’t let it stop you, as long as you eat plenty of fresh fruit as well.
Another tip: Yahoo Answers is not really the best place to ask questions about raw food. Try the forums at goneraw.com or the discussions at giveittomeraw.com. You’ll find more raw foodists and more information.
Good luck on your raw journey!
What are you talking about? When I want my beef I just go out to my back yard, kill a cow and process it? Why must you be so complicated?
to the first answerer. A raw food diet ushually does not include raw meat. the most common raw diet is the raw vegan diet.
yes frozen is good and as long as it isn’t heated over 115 degrees F then it’s considered raw food.
Your oven will not go down to 100 degrees if it is an American oven. I heat things up for 30 minutes at 100 degrees in my dehydrator if I really think I need warm (not often)
I have a VitaMix high-powered blender and I can make hot soups in it by blending for 2 minutes or so.
Of course, you can freeze most fruit for sorbets. I freeze bananas, peaches, berries and then run them through my Champion juicer with the blank plate to get a "soft serve" textured sorbet You can also blend them with ice cubes in a blender to get a sorbet.
Consider getting the book Raw Food Revolution Diet http://tinyurl.com/rawfoodrevolutiondiet and/or The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Raw Food http://tinyurl.com/completeidiotraw
Both of these are very clear guides for beginners, and both have many easy to prepare recipes.
Have fun
Yes you can heat your food till it’s 115 degrees or less, higher than that kills off the enzymes. Be very aware most ovens don’t warm up to just 100 degrees warm ends up something like 170!!!! Heat oven on lowest setting, turn it off pop food in leaving the door open at least 2 inches or so.
Freezing fruit is fine,I make sorbets allot.
