Raw foodism, Vegetarianism, toothache connection?
For years my staple diet was wheat pitas, rice & very spicy veg/non-veg dishes (typical indian/pakistani foods). Over last six months, I started eating mostly raw fruits & vegetables. While overall effect on health was good, but I started having this persistent toothache. I showed many dentists but after scores of x-rays they could not find anything wrong.
Now, a few days ago, I was at a party & I had to eat traditional Indian/Pakistani food, and lo & behold toothache disappeared. Now I have added wheat Pita etc back into my diet and toothache doesnt bother me any more.
Just wanted to share my experience, & see if my mosty fruit diet was lacking in something. Should I take any supplements along with it.?
So, are u guys saying, cooked vegetables are better than raw ones for teeth? I do drink lots of milk.
To Jen:
But my digestion became super-excellent when I started raw fruits & veggies. All my body functions become much better, except this stupid toothache.

teeth are calcium and most vegans/vegetarians don’t get enough of it so maybe add a calcium supplement and it might get better also
LOL… there is much written on this subject. The reason nothing is showing in x-rays is the sensitivity of your teeth is not a cavity but the enamel being porous. This happens in us anyway as we age BUT itr does seem that raw Fruit speeds it along.
Use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, do GREEN Smoothies & less raw fruit..

I hope this helps.
First, the best thing for strong bones and teeth is good digestion, not calcium. Americans consume more calcium than ever before, and not only is osteoporosis on the rise, but children are having pulpotomies (the pediatric equivalent of a root canal) in record numbers.
If your toothache went away, it was not decay related, and most likely simple sensitivity from too much citrus.
