This is a recipe i have made up :

crush chicken or turkey necks (grind w/ bones)

MEAT —- alternate with rabbit, beef, venison

Lamb and sweet potatoes (sometimes carrots or green beans) mixed – TOTAL weight is around 4 1/2 lbs
add : 3 tbsp flaxseed oil
2 oz turkey gizzards or chicken liver
          2-3 eggs
lowfat plain yogurt (1/2 s. container)
          1-2 garlic cloves
3 tsp kelp or greens powder
          Vitamin E : 100iu (up to 400 by adult)
          Vitamin B&C :
Cod liver oil : 1-2 ml DAILY (split)

* salmon oil once or twice a week

I mix the meat mixture and freeze – add vitamins seperatley when food is defrosted

Eventually over time I want to add some cooked oats every other day @dinner time.

My puppy is now 8 weeks old, and i would like to start him on this diet. I read that you should do a percentage of his weight to find out how much he should eat. He is around 12lbs right now, so i figure he would eat about 1lb divided into 3 meals a day…
I am confused about

1) is this recipe good that i’ve made up and should i start him with this?
2) how do i know how much to feed him as he grows (the percentages should change when his weight does??)
3) how much chicken/turkey necks should be grinded for the BONE portion?

Purchase Fat Burning Diet

also, i’m not comfortable with handing them a bone to chew on, any alternatives to that?
do they need to be on a supplement? or multi-vitamin?
or is raw chicken, beef, fish, ect and sweet potatoes, carrots, ect. really all they need?

any recipe suggestions?

We ran out of dog food again, we called to order more (we have to order it from the feed store) the guy said he would order it, then we called to see when it would be in, now that were out, only to find out he never ordered it! so they said there not sure when it will be in.. Gah! This is the second time this has happened! We’ve been feeding them Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Adult Formula. So now were totally out, last night i made some plain white rice, with a chicken breast cooked into it. Which of course the dogs really enjoyed, but i feel this isn’t a very complete meal. I’m hoping the food will come in tomorrow, but i fear it may not be until next Monday. So i need to figure out what to feed them until then. What else can i add to this rice chicken mix to make it more complete? things i thought of might be eggs (hard boiled maybe?) Carrots, frozen veggies, or canned pumpkin (i give them pumpkin when there stomach is upset and they love it) We also have plain oatmeal maybe that would be better than rice? or mixed with the rice? I really have no idea,
I’m not sure what else we have that might be good to add, we might be able to go buy some more veggies or something tonight, if my fiance doesn’t have to work too late. What else might be a better meal? I haven’t really had time to look into feeding a raw diet, but i have considered it many times, especially since its so hard to find good dog food here. If anyone has some basic dog food recipes, hopefully ones that don’t call for a lot of fancy ingredients, because we live in a small town and only have a basic grocery store.

I’m trying to halt some health conditions that I feel have been caused or aggravated by following the S.A.D. for the better part of my 49 years. Psoriasis, visceral obesity, hypertension (but oddly, only October-March, yearly), and diabetes-type 2 are my immediate concerns. About 10 years ago, I tried to go 100% vegetarian, but achieved only about 90%, stopping at lacto-ovo with 0% soy. My dairy is limited to that which is present in processed foods (e.g., store-bought baked goods and frozen entrees) and half-n-half in an occasional cup of decaf coffee. And, in an effort to lose some of my excess weight, I’ve recently learned about and am trying a raw & living food diet (RALF–a terrible but spot-on acronym)…but, I have some reservations.

1. I am gluten sensitive…reactive but not a full-blown celiac.
2. I wear dentures, meaning nuts & seeds must be ground almost to flour for comfortable consumption.
3. Some raw veggies, such as carrots, cauliflower & broccoli, present chewing discomfort (see #2 above), unless they’re liquefied, prepared very finely, or dehydrated & ground.
4. And last but not least, no matter how many green shakes & salads and whole fruits I consume, I’m always left with an overwhelming craving for "bad-carb" comfort foods…like potatoes, pasta, breads, and far worse, cookies or crackers.

So, can you please recommend some good- or low-carb RALF options?

(BTW, I do take gymnema daily, but it only curbs the carb cravings; it does not eliminate them.)

I have other, more acceptable chewies for him and he won’t touch them. I have natural twigs I bought from an online Guinea pig supply, and I have the little chew sticks Wal-Mart sells for Guinea pigs. I give him hay every day, and celery, assorted greens, a small carrot, as well as his regular Guinea pig diet (Super Premium Guinea Pig Blend with Ester C). I also offer other things, bananas, tomatoes, strawberries, but he only eats hay, Guinea pig food, mixed greens, celery, and a little bit of carrots. Should I not worry about his cage-wire chewing?

My Girlfriend & I have been put in a predicament. I’m 16 & she’s 15. We were both living in Abusive situations. Her Family was slowly killing her. They were feeding her nothing but junk & Verbally, Emotionally & occasionally Physically Abusing her.

She has PCOS, Tachycardia & Asthma. They do nothing but Smoke & Insult her all day long. They also have have Roaches & Fleas & their House is literally falling apart & they refuse to do anything about it. My Parents are Alcoholics & don’t do anything but Drink, Eat, Sleep & Throw anything they can get their hands on at me.

We are both Obese but I’m not asking this to lose weight. We moved in w/ each other about 2 months together & are just barely getting by. We are both going to Night School & I work Full Time at the Local Garage & any Odd Jobs that I can. She works Part-Time at the Local Library.

She’s Smart enough into College & actually wants to go, I’m not planning on College. I might have to Drop out & get my GED so I’ll have more time to work. We literally just cannot Afford anything but Canned Foods, Rice, Beans, Potatoes & the Fruits & Veggies on Sale. Usually Carrots, Iceberg Lettuce, Bananas, Grapes & Peaches. That’s including what the Local Church gives us.

I asked this on another site & got nothing but rude comments about how my Girlfriend & I are just Trailer Trash who shouldn’t have gotten knocked up. I want to clarify on this site. My Girlfriend is NOT Pregnant, we didn’t just move in together so we could have Sex whenever we felt like. We are both Virgins, sleep in different rooms & we will remain that way until Marriage. So don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

We can’t get Food Stamps because we’re not Emancipated or Married & we don’t have a Kid. I know that it won’t be the most Healthy Diet but it’s all we can do. If you can Suggest some Vitamins and a Guideline or Menu or something that would be great. I really appreciate the help.

Hi, I have 2 shih tzus and a frenchie. Currently I feed them Natural Balance Chicken & Sweet potato and today we tried the raw food diet. Everyone seemed to like it. I made a mixture of uncooked chicken livers, celery, and carrots. I wanted to know if anyone has their dog on the raw food diet? What good/ bad effects have you noticed? Overall what’s your opinion of it?

So, I’m trying to lose some weight, here’s what I intend on eating tomorrow.

Breakfast: Cheerios with skim milk and some kind of fruit

Snack: Either a cut up apple, a banana, or nuts

Lunch: Lentil soup, nuts, and a banana and some carrots

Snack: celery and peanut butter or carrots

dinner: Undecided, either some bean soup with some form of veggie.

So, does this sound healthy? I don’t count calories.
This is stuff I like. (: And I can throw some like toast in for breakfast.

Hi.

I’m a 22-year-old female and I’m looking for some diet tips or natural remedies to keep lethargy (and stress-related swollen glands, which I’m prone to) at bay, or to get rid of existing moderate fatigue, like I have now.

I’m coping okay right now, but I just started a new, very active and pretty stressful sales job two weeks ago, after being unemployed since last December. I’m really determined not to get sick again like I have in previous full-time jobs.

I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 this year, and have been medicated with Lithium for about two months. It’s been pretty effective, although one of the common side effects is fatigue. I was just bumming around when I started it, so perhaps I didn’t notice it so much, but it could be more prominent now that I’m working in a fast-paced job.

My diet is generally very good. Low-fat as I’m trying to lose a few kilos. I’m 168cm and about 67kg, so I’m in the healthy weight range, but I’d mostly like to tone up and lose a little excess fat. Also, low in added sugar and salt, especially salt because of my meds. I mostly avoid bread and pasta in favour of rice and polenta. Dairy-free because I find dairy aggravates my asthma. No. 1 protein is fish and low-salt baked beans (my typical breakfast), but I try to eat red meat a few times a week, plus some occasional chicken etc. Daily, I typically eat kiwi and orange, then various green vegies, carrots, cauli, and I regularly eat seaweed with sushi hand rolls.

I take these daily supplements: Blackmores Bio-C, and Nature’s Own Women’s Multi-V and Fish Oil capsules. Any other suggestions? (I’m in Australia, so brands may vary, but I can look up equivalents.)

My main vice is coffee. Before working I could go without, or only have one weak short black some days. Now I drink 2-5 coffees (black or soy) each working day, and sometimes Coke, but I try hard to avoid that. Trying to replace some coffee with Korean green tea, but it doesn’t give me that lift I need. Ideally, I’d be feeling naturally energetic enough to not need so much coffee. Just don’t know how to get there.

I try to only drink 2-3 times a week, and mostly only 1 or 2 drinks per session. Beer, white wine or bourbon and Coke. I think I’m doing okay on that front.

Exercise: The month before I started work I was getting up to a good level of fitness, with long distance runs followed by sit-ups/push-ups/plank/etc. 4-6 times a week. Now that I’m working, it’s more like once or twice.

I generally sleep well, but even after sleeping in 2-3 days in a row (like now for Easter long weekend) I still feel lethargic and grumpy. So, any suggestions for my lifestyle or diet? I know my diet’s pretty good, but are there any super foods or nutritional combos people swear by to survive busy working weeks?

okay tomorrow is my day off of exercise.
I do this 5 times a week: run 6.5-7.5 miles, 200 crunches/leg lifts.

today I ran 4 miles on elliptical levels 6-8 in 32 minutes.
ran 3.2 miles on treadmill in 25 minutes
and I walked 1 mile
200 crunches/leg lifts.

I also ate about 1520 calories
but for tomorrow i dont want as many carbs because im not working out…so is this healthy?

b:
-whole wheat high fiber low carb wrap
-60 cal egg whites
-kiwi

s:
carrots

l:
whole wheat wrap low carb with lean turkey, tomato, spinach.
clif z bar
apple
oikos plain greek yogurt

s:
3/4 cup kashi crisp nugget cereal (55 calories)

d:
-1 cup kashi go lean (high fiber/protein)
-veggie burger with light laughing cow cheese
-broccoli
-apple/kiwi/strawberries

d:
kashi cookie

and that would be a total of 1410 calories.
is that healthy for a day off of exercise?
i am 18, 5’5”, and 101 lbs.

thank you.
is it too many carbs? or …???

I’ve been heavy all my life (when I was born I was close to 11 lbs) and I’ve made the decision to change. As I know, I have a long, hard road ahead of me and along with exercising I know I’m also going to have to change my diet AND my eating habits.

HOWEVER. I am a VERY picky eater. I do not like salad or vegetables raw (I will eat pea-pods though) and I only like a select number of fruits and at that its only on occasion. I don’t tend to eat a lot of fast-food and I don’t tend towards eating out often either. I do like bread-y or starchy foods (which is one of those food habits I know I’ll be cutting back on). What I want are either some recipes or ideas for healthy eating for picky eaters like myself. I will be putting up a list of certain fruits/veggies I will eat (as well as their cooking method) to let you know what types of things I may be more willing/less willing to eat.

Fruits:
Applesauce (I’m considering this a fruit because I will eat it before I would actually eat an actual apple. I won’t even eat desserts with real apples in them)
Grapes (occasionally)
Strawberries (occasionally)
Oranges/Mandarin Oranges (occasionally)
Bananas (rarely)
Mango (rarely)
Pineapple (rarely)
Peaches (occasionally)
Pears (occasionally)

Vegetables:
Carrots (cooked to mush…like you would with pot roast or in homemade soups)
Celery (again mush)
Broccoli (Steamed)
Asparagus (Steamed)
Onions (mush)
Pea-pods (Raw)
Green-Beans (Southern Style Mush or Cold from Can)
Water-Chestnuts (Cooked I guess?)
Potatoes (Just about any way except for roasted)
Corn (again just about any way)

I do cook and I can cook fairly well. I will be moving to a place of my own soon and along with this change I’d like to begin some new ones. My mother is diabetic and so is much of my family. I have been raised not drinking sugar drinks or super-sugary foods. I’ve seen what diabetes can do and what the effects of obesity has done to me, my family and many parts of the country and I’m not liking what I see. If you have any advice, ideas, or anything else you think may help, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

***Please don’t try to sell me something or lead me to a site that talks about fad dieting or other nonsense stuff. I’m serious about this challenge and I would rather spend my time doing something productive towards my health rather than read something that’s crap.

I know this question is boring but i really REALLY need some new ideas. What healthy food do you feed your toddler? My son eats the same thing all the time. He likes pasta with tomatoes, chicken (rarely), fish sticks, ravioli, vegetable pizza, and grilled cheese. His two favorite veggies are green beans and carrots, but he eats those every single day. And of course he will eat any fruit you put in front of his face. He also likes cheddar cheese sticks. He has a pretty good variety for breakfast so I’m not really worried about that.

I just feel like i am feeding him the same thing all the time. I just need new healthy ideas that a toddler would like. He doesn’t really like meat, which is fine with me, i just wish i could find something to replace the main part of his meal. Help me ladies!!…or gentlemen if there are any Mr. Moms reading this…

Breakfast:
-organic cereal with skim milk
-a 100 calorie yoplait light yogurt

Snack
-a cup of blackberries

Snack
-1 really big apple

Lunch
-220 calorie protein bar

Snack
-some carrots

Snack
-a handful of unsalted almonds

Dinner
-a veggie burger with 1 slice low fat cheese, a wheat bun, and some ketchup
-some green beans

For exercise, I plan to just run like 2 miles because I ran a lot yesterday. I will also do some sit ups and stuff like that. So, is this good for today?
When I don’t plan out my meals, I either don’t eat or I binge.
I’m a vegetarian so I never eat real burgers.

I would like some serious answers on what to feed my 13 month old. She only has two teeth so she cannot really chew well yet. She also gags on third foods with meat. I think its a texture thing.
She likes cereal, and super soft green beans, carrots, apples & pears. She likes noodles but she doesn’t swallow them she just cannot seem to gum them well enought yet, I have tried peas but she cannot chew through the skins, I have tried giving her finely cut up chicken, pork, ground beef and she just does not seem to chew them well enough, she will still have the pieces in her mouth a half an hour later and I get very concerned about her chocking because of it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Okay ..so I am trying to spend roughly 25 dollars a week on food…and I want to be super super healthy so here are some examples of what I like

What else can I buy that is healthy? (please explain why the things you suggest are healthy) and what should I scratch from my list?

Apples
oranges
carrots
celery
brocolli
spinich
mixed greens(canned kind)
veggie burgers
ham slices(60 cals per serving! very lean)
berries sometimes
yogurt

What kind of bean is really good?
