I am getting a shelter dog next summer and I expect it not to be as healthy as dogs that have been raised on high quality life styles. Here is my idea:
Switch to a high-quality dog food for about 4 months
If he doesn’t look better, go on a raw diet (i’ll need some recipes please) for about a month or whenever he looks nice
High quality dog food again for awhile and then switch to an okay dog food.
Does that sound okay? That will be over the course of like 10 months, is that too much switching, should I just feed raw, premium and then okay. Raw then okay. Premium then okay food?
Thank you!
PS I need to know how much to feed—- he’ll be about 45lbs with about 1 hour of exercise a day.
of course I’ll love him :) He’ll get as much TLC as the most spoiled dog in the world! Does anyone have raw recipes?
He isn’t getting crappy food!!!!! He’ll probably be a lab x whippet or something nice. Just to build his immune system on the good food and make his coat shinier and then and OKAY dog food to maintain the coat.
He’ll be young… 3-5 years

Purchase Fat Burning Diet

I am trying to calculate how much raw cat food my cats should receive. So, I have some questions.

1. How many times a day do you recommend feeding?

2. How many ounces of food a day should a cat receive?

I know that this information can vary, based on weight, age, health, and exercise. I am really just looking for general amounts that I can adjust, as needed. If it helps, all of my cats age from one to nine years of age. None of them are overweight or have any health problems.

I also have some more questions.

A. Do you prefer BARF, whole prey model, and/or frankenprey? Why or why not?

B. What "recipes" do you use/follow?

C. If you follow whole prey model, how do you go about feeding your cats?

D. Have you had difficulty finding a veterinarian who agrees with your cats’ diets?

E. How much do you spend, daily, weekly, and/or monthly on food, per cat?

Any other information is appreciated. 8)
Also, you do not have to answer every single question–just the ones you want to.

my dad baught chicken breasts and he said it was okay to use 3 of of them for the dog.

does anyone have any good recipes for a good BARF/RAW or a healthy type meal for my dog :).. i’ve made a few before but my neighbour passed away and i don’t have the recipes anymore, i think a friend of hers took them.

anywho, does anyone have a few recipes they can suggest that can be done in a short time, i think i might mix in some dog food with the meal so it won’t confuse her. Eventually i might give her a healthy or BARF/RAW meal once a week when i’m done school. :)

thanks!
she’s a 4 1/2 yr old Lab about 55lbs. She gets a very good amount of exercise(2h 30mins walks with a ball), so something with a little more protein..
the first answerer well.. thing is.. i only have chicken breasts.. my dad is going to go back into town just to get all those things lol.
also this is just a one time thing for a while anyways.. this was kind of accidental since i asked my dad and he agreed..

the three chicken breasts are about 2 or 1 1/2 fists big (mine are small so lol 2 for me) i don’t know how much to feed her

I had never really eaten all that well in the past. But about 6 months ago, I changed my eating habits drastically… I live on a Vegan diet, and strictly organic foods. Since the change in my diet, I have noticed that when I started exercising again, it feels GREAT! It’s ecstatic! It feels like I am on drugs haha. Anyways, what I am asking is… Does healthy food really have this affect? Or was I just a lazy bastard who was ignorant to the beauty of exercise?

After reading detailed reviews about people taking colon cleansers and seeing various sci-fi like things come out of themselves, I’m wondering if detox is really useful or not. I once took a 7 day Cleanse program from GNC, and I felt better after using it, but I don’t know if that had more to do with my healthy diet and exercise. I saw all these pictures of intestinal goop and while most research says that the liver can do just fine detoxing the body, what about the goop? All of that stuff can’t be good in the colon, but does it present dangers to ones health to take all that fiber and who knows what else? Technically, what would that in depth, complicated colon cleanse offer that say, a dose of Metamucil couldn’t? All those reviews said they got flatter stomachs, better sleep habits, etc etc etc… What is happening here? I find myself oddly interested in a program, but I don’t want to just be in the bathroom all the time, especially at work.

Thanks!

I am a 22 yr old male. 6’1, lean, but defined, 145 lbs. I’m looking to get bigger. I’m looking for suggestions or tips for a good routine, or how to modify my current one.

My arms need the most work. They are defined, but not big at all. I know I need to give them time to repair more than other areas, and that working the triceps more than the bicep is best for gaining mass.

For a little over a month now I have been doing:

Mon: Bench Press, Shrugs, Crunches
Tues: Rest
Wed: Rest
Thur: Dumbbell Curls, Triceps Extensions, Push-ups
Fri: Rest
Sat: Triceps Extensions, Bent Over Rows, Dumbbell Curls
Sun: Squats, Lunges

Every exercise is 3 sets of 6-8 reps with as much weight as I can handle with correct form.

Prior to the workout I have a protein drink (whey protein), and afterwards I have a good carb/veggie meal after every workout.
Should I just be patient, or is there a problem with this workout routine?

Please post only if you know what you are talking about.

Thanks in advance :)

It seems that we place a lot of importance on taut, flat stomachs. Every day, advertisements promise to help us “Get a firm belly”, or “Get sculpted abs”. What they don’t tell us is that belly fat isn’t just unattractive, it’s hazardous to your health.

Numerous studies have found a link between belly flab and high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. Measure your waist to see if you have a dangerous level of abdominal fat. For optimal health, men should have a waist circumference below 40 inches. Women should have a waist circumference below 35 inches.

Here are some proven techniques to help you get a firm belly and reduce dangerous abdominal fat:

Move More, Eat Right

Exercise doesn’t have to be done at a gym. You can burn calories while you participate in activities that you consider fun or fulfilling. For example, gardening burns several hundred calories per hour. Team sports, like flag football, burn even more. Swimming is also a great fat-burner, and fun to boot. You could also do volunteer work, or just take long walks down nature trails.

Cardio exercise will kick your fat-burning metabolism into overdrive. All it requires is persistence; if you can find an activity you like, and stick with it, the pounds will melt away. It’s also important to vary your routine for maximum calorie burning, and to ward off boredom.

There are several exercises you can do to get a firm belly. The American Council on Exercise did a study to find out which exercises targeted the abs most effectively. Their findings? Supine bicycle, captain’s chair leg lifts, and vertical leg crunches work the abs harder than any other exercise. Twisting crunches and exercise ball crunches were other good ones. Try doing those exercises several times a week to get a firm belly and whittle your waistline. An Internet search will turn up detailed step-by-step tutorials for each exercise.

There are foods that can help you get a firm belly, too. Sugary carbs contribute to belly fat build-up, but foods high in protein and fiber are slenderizing. Look for a diet plan comprised mostly of complex carbs, lean protein sources, and unsaturated fats. South Beach is a classic example, and similar diets have come on the market in recent years.

Learn to Relax

Who would have thought that you could get a firm belly while you relax? It’s possible with the help of yoga. Yoga has a two-fold effect on our bellies. First, it reduces high stress levels that lead to weight gain. Stress-induced weight gain often results in excess belly fat. Reducing your stress level can give you a flatter stomach and lower your risk for many diseases.

Yoga also tones the stomach muscles. Look for a yoga routine that includes supine poses and other postures that work the abdominal muscles. Check out a yoga DVD from your local library, or look for free video tutorials online. You will be able to tell right away if a particular pose targets the stomach area. To get a firm belly faster, design your own routine using the most effective belly-busting poses.

As you can see, it takes a little effort to get a firm belly — but the rewards are well worth it.

Losing weight is very difficult for many of us, but it ultimately boils down to numbers: Eat fewer calories to lose more pounds. If we could figure out how to lose calories, the pounds would quickly follow.

It’s easy to reduce your calorie intake when you know how to do it right. You don’t have to feel deprived, and you don’t have to starve yourself. In fact, you can cut your calories easily and painlessly. These helpful tips will teach you how to lose calories – and weight – starting now.

Lose Calories with Healthy Substitutions

You don’t have to give up your favorite flavors, you just have to make healthier substitutions. Let’s say you’re having a craving for something rich and chocolaty. If you satisfy your craving by downing a pint of chocolate ice cream, you will have added several hundred calories to your daily intake.

But if you pick up a healthier alternative, like a sugar-free fudge pop or some reduced fat chocolate pudding, you will get the chocolate flavor you crave at a low caloric cost.

Other good substitutions include low-fat dairy products instead of whole milk products; lean cuts of meat instead of fattier cuts; air-popped popcorn or rice cakes instead of chips; trans-fat-free margarine instead of butter; and whole fruit instead of fruit juice.

Lose Calories by Eating More

Yes, you read that right! When you consider how to lose calories, eating more isn’t the first strategy that comes to mind. But studies have shown time and again that you can control your appetite by eating smaller, more frequent meals.

This approach reduces your calories in two ways. First, it keeps you from getting too hungry. Excess hunger is the number one reason why people stop dieting, and it is also a leading cause of binging. When you control your hunger, you can control your calorie intake.

Second, small meals keep your metabolism active. You will lose calories as your body burns through them faster. This is a near-effortless way to reduce the number of calories you eat, and burn the rest!

Lose Calories with Daily Tasks

Ever wondered how to lose calories while being productive? Many of us don’t have time to devote to long workouts, but you can burn off extra calories while you run errands and do chores.

Lawn work and gardening burn a surprising number of calories each hour. Depending on what you do and how much you weigh, you could burn up to 700 calories an hour just by working in your yard.

If you have kids or pets, take them to the park! An hour of swinging, sliding, and Frisbee catching will get rid of 300 calories or more.

When you run errands, use the stairs instead of the elevator. Park at the far end of the parking lot when you visit stores. These are small changes that add up to big rewards.

Lose Calories with Yoga

Yoga is a great exercise for beginners. It builds strength, increases flexibility, and helps prevent heart and metabolic diseases.

Yoga is also a fantastic stress reducer. It encourages our bodies to stop hanging on to excess calories in the form of fat. If you make yoga a part of your daily routine, you will notice physical and emotional benefits right away.

Start by doing 15 – 30 minutes of yoga each day. Search online to find a good yoga sequence for beginners. Don’t let the more advanced poses scare you off; even yoga masters had to start somewhere!

Now that you’ve learned how to lose calories without depriving yourself, it’s time to put these ideas into practice. Try to make one small change per week until you’ve grown accustomed to your new lifestyle. After a few weeks, losing calories will be a piece of (low-fat) cake!
care of yourself by eating right and exercising, and your legs will shape up fast!

I have a friend who basically all she eats is junk food. She has mc donalds or other fast food place like almost everyday and takeout. She doesnt drink any water or she might have like less than 1 glass a day and just drinks soft drinks. she doesnt do ANY exercise whatsoever, she just sits at a computer/desk or watches t.v all day. She doesnt eat vegetables or anything green and she eats like double the amount of me which is a lot. She doesnt eat breakfast or if she did it would probably be like heaps of bacon or pancakes with icecream and cream or some chocolate muffins. then she might have like a packet of chips for snack or chocolate and then french fries or a combination of lollies, chocolate, chips, etc (basically every junk food you can imagine) and then she might have like some more fatty foods throughout the day and then for dinner she will prob have mcdonalds or kfc or some takeout and then she has like chocolate, chips or basically a whole range or fatty foods before she goes to bed. Yet she is one of the skinniest people I have ever seen – shes 5’4 and weighs just under 90 lbs. Why is her matabolism so fast and just doesnt slow down at all?
By the way no one else in her family is thin she is like the only one.

I’m 17, 114 lbs, 5’4”, female.

I’m not necessarily looking to lose weight (Though a pound or two off my tummy wouldn’t hurt ;)) But I was inspired earlier this week by a teacher of mine. She lost a hundred pounds over the past year through surgery (gastro bypass I believe?) and she had to change her diet drastically. She says that she’s never felt better. She can see and think clearly, she’s happier, full of energy.
I was just wondering if there’s anything I can do on a much smaller scale to get to that level of healthiness?
I typically don’t eat a lot of junk because I’m hypoglycemic and can’t handle a lot of sugar. But I also eat at odd hours of the day and mostly eat carbs.

Any suggestions for diet and exercise to increase my energy and happiness??

Thanks guys :)

Sometimes I wonder this. I know people will say that eating healthier will make you live longer, but what if the person doesn’t like what they’re eating? Some will probably say "You’ll learn to like it" and all that other stuff, but I seriously can’t imagine eating that stuff on a day to day basis. I mean, I do exercise and such, but I don’t like dieting. If I were to diet, does that mean I have to say "F*** my favorite foods"?

Ok.. I’ve tried to do a little research on this, and the internet is filled with a myriad of products, plans, etc. claiming to cleanse the colon and detox your system. I am not sure what to think. Are supplements really necessary? If so, are there products out there that are safe, with no "fillers", etc.? Obviously I realize a healthy diet and exercise are a must. I am just looking for a plan to detox my system and clean out the colon… There are so many things out there.. and I’ve also heard scary stories about "natural" products…does anyone have personal experience and/or reliable advice about this? Thanks so much
btw, I already eat plenty of fiber, fresh fruit/veg, and exercise daily.
I want to thank everyone for taking the time to answer. If the general consensus is that a "program" is not necessary, then is there something I can do with diet/fasting for 1-2 days to achieve the same effect? As mentioned, my diet is healthy (includes lots of fiber) and I exercise daily- but too often I still feel "backed up" (sorry, I know it’s not a pretty topic!)

Around november of last year, i switched over from a disgusting junk food thriving, soda drinking, chain smoking living habit to a cleaner more exercise and healthy eating habit. Before i switched, i got sick maybe once a year. Ever since i changed things, I’ve caught several colds, and a very mild case of strep. Basically what i’m asking is can a healthier diet put you at risk for sickness or common viruses?

I have little energy, I eat healthy and exercise but I am so out of energy in the evening. What can I take to help. My legs are also hurting from inside, I have no idea why. It is not as tough I walk or stand up all day.

Thanks…

Okay, so don’t tell me that its bad for me, and that its going to give me bacteria or anything, but I love the taste of raw hamburger. I’m considering going on a raw food diet. I’ve looked around Google and found that nuts, veggies and fruits, raw meat are part of the diet. Is it a better diet for someone who doesn’t exercise that much? Can someone exactly tell me what is in a raw food diet and what its supposed to do/is for?

I have been sick now for a few weeks and I have been stuck in bed during this time. I am starting to feel batter, but my energy levels are soooo low right now and I still don’t have the energy to eat a good meal or exercise. How can I begin to get my energy levels back up so I can start working out and eating well again? Plus I have finals coming up so I have to get some energy to study again and stuff. Please help!!!

What stores in Los Angeles California sell Acai Berry Detox?&&Colon Cleanse? I’ve read so many good reviews about this combination that I want to try it for myself! :)

I really want to lose weight! :) Like 30 pounds in 5 months (By the second week of Sept.). So any diets the are recommended will be appreciated. && any exercise rutines will also be appreciated.
