I am just about to give up on store bought dog foods. But the alternative is very overwhelming to me. My husband is a soldier and we move around a lot and I cant find the same good bought food everywhere we go. And I now live in very small towns without many dog food choices. After the research I have done, I want to get my 6lb yorkie off of the store bought food. I dont know what to feed him though. Even now, we give him cooked ground beef, turkey, and even a few fruits and veggies (only the ones safe for my pup of course) in addition to his dog food – which is Nutro Ultra by the way. I really want to hear from pet owners that are feeding their dog a "raw diet" (I have no idea if that’s even the right term for fresh food). Even if I was to start out feeding my pup fresh foods in addition to his dog food, how would I know he is getting the right nutrition?

Please answer if you are feeding your dog fresh food and have some recipes that you are already feeding your dog.

Thanks!!
Please dont tell me to look at a website or search online. I have already done all of that. Unless you have a website that YOU use to feed your pet.

Purchase Fat Burning Diet

Hi, my sister and I are considering going on an organic, mostly raw diet. We are not vegetarian, nor do we really care to be, but as far as meat goes we plan to eat mainly chicken and fish. We love most fruits and veggies, so this probably won’t be a huge problem for us.This is not to lose weight, but to be healthier and cleanse our bodies of preservatives. I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions, and maybe recipe/meal ideas? We are fairly petite, so plans for the day should be no more than about 1500 calories. Also, we can’t have any foods from the nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, and other kinds of peppers), so keep this in mind when suggesting recipes! Thanks in advance!
Oh, and the reason for no peppers, etc., is because we thought we had a bell pepper allergy, but it turns out that our bodies can’t digest the solanine (a toxin found in all of those vegetables that just passes through most people). So basically, eating those things has been poisoning us until we realized it.

Starting next Monday is my second attempt at a 14 day fruit and veggie fast/detox. My first attempt I only lasted like four days…and I was cheating pretty much the entire time, so it was completely pointless! LOL. Does anyone have any tips on the best fruits and veggies to eat? How should I write out my meal plan? What are some tips to make it the entire 14 days? What are the best herbal teas to drink a long with this detox? Any advice and efforts of motivation helps! Thank you! =)

I was reading and have watched some tv coverage on the raw food diet and was intrigued for many reasons. I def want to give it a good try and since it is summer, i figured what better time to have easy access to fresh fruits and veggies. If there are any raw food dieters please share some tips, food ideas, maybe a basic shopping list, what to DEF stay away from (dairy? cheese? milk?) symptoms to expect, etc.

I really want eat healthier and lose some weight. I’ve noticed that I’ve gained quite a bit of weight. At least, I feel like I have. Here’s a meal plan I’ve thought of to use a general guide. It may differ from day to day depending on what foods I have available to me but here it is:

Breakfast:
- 2 fruits
- 2 slices of toast (white bread. I can’t seem to like any other kind) with peanut butter
- a glass of juice, or a box of juicy juice (yeah, i still drink those :])

Lunch:
- This greatly depends on what school is serving for lunch. I’ll try to use the salad bar more and get fruits and veggies in with what they’re serving. If there’s pizza, I’ll go with cheese to avoid the extra grease from the pepperoni or other meat. I’ll try to make a healthy lunch choice.

- Every other day, I’ll make my own lunch to bring to school. This will include 2 fruits, a sandwich (ham/turkey, shredded lettuce, cheese, and mustard or bologna and cheese), and a LUNAbar (http://www.lunabar.com/). If a LUNAbar isn’t available, I’ll substitute for a small pack of animal crackers or a Kellogg’s Nutrigrain bar. I’ll drink water.

Dinner:
- I’ll try to incorporate more veggies in with my dinner.
- I have white rice for dinner at least 2 times a week. It’s the only kind of rice my family eats, so I can’t change that.
- There will probably be eggs used.
- I’ll try to have a bowl of soup to help fill me up before I eat dinner so that I don’t need to eat as much.
- When I don’t have rice for dinner, I’ll have something like chicken or fish with some kind of veggie and mashed potatoes.
- Again, I’ll drink water with my dinner.

I’ll also drink water throughout the day and eat a snack between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner. Is there anything I can do to improve it and to add more variety? I tend to get sick of eating the same thing over and over again, so any advice is appreciated. I’ve always said I wanted to eat healthier and lose weight, but it’s so hard without some sort of support system. This time, I really want to stick with it. Any help/advice is welcome :] Thanks!
If breakfast is the only time I’ll be drinking juice, is it that bad? One box of juicy juice has 100 calories, and orange or apple juice is about the same.

In terms of exercise, I’ll try going to the gym 3 times a week beginning next month after I, hopefully, get my license. Right now, the only thing I can do to exercise is jog around my neighborhood, which I’m not too comfortable doing. My neighborhood isn’t all that great. I could do some strength workouts inside 3 times a week to help tone some of my muscles, though.

For this past week i’ve been living off of fruits and veggies and green smoothies made out of one banana, ice, a scoop of amazing grass superfoods chocolate powder mix, maca powder and spinach.
But i’ve been craving sweets and more variety so wat should i get from whole foods? My dad pretty much just drinks those and lots of meat, but i’m trying to stay off the meat b/c i’ve been off it for about a month now and i want to become a vegetarian. :)

So make a list for me, go crazy! :D
thx. :)

I’m doing a 5 day fast of nothing but water and green tea, and then after I’ll only have raw fruits and veggies with roasted unsalted nuts, green tea and fresh fruit and veg juice. Has anyone else done this diet? From what I’ve read it’s healthy, fast, and something I can do potentially for the rest of my life, and I’m not looking to get talked out of it. I just want to hear other peoples experiences with it. Also, I know I’m going to cheat by allowing coffee with non-dairy creamer and Stevia (or Splenda), will this totally throw things out of whack? I know at least initially, I’m going to need my coffee, it’s my one concession. Thanks.
I won’t be having the coffee coffee during the fast.

I plan to go on the raw food diet and I plan to eat only fruits and veggies. And I was wondering, is it safe? I won’t pass out or become malnourished or anything like that, will I?

For anyone who has actually tried this diet, YOUR advice and experience will be helpful.
