i have to go on a detoxification for about a week, and eat raw foods. what things can i eat, besides the obvious like fruit and veggies??? any tips? also, how could i get at least a little bit of protien?

i have a 9month old GSD and i wanted to put him on raw foods, but its just way too confusing for me. He weighs over 60lbs now, so how do i know how much to give him? does anyone have any recipes with exact measurements that i can use? (instead of 80% veggies, and 10% meat, 10% grains, as some people like to put it…. i want ozs, lbs, cups ect)

i feed him Canidea, and im pretty happy with it. But dogs have been eating raw food since the dawn off time, and i figure its probably the best thing for him at this point

Is there a web site that shows which raw foods are enzyme inhibiting and which
ones are not? Supposedly raw foods (at least some raw foods) cause the
pancreas to secrete more enzymes. But then I don’t know what it means when they
say raw foods are full of amino acids in the form of enzymes, but then at the
same time can cause problems with needing more enzymes,where you thought if they
were full of enzymes it wouldn’t take as many enzymes to digest them. It’s
totally beyond my understanding.. sorry for confusing everyone.

Nearly everyone thinks I look much better, more fit since I went to a mostly
raw diet, and I’ve increased weight that I"m lifting in my workouts. The only
problem is that I’m fatigued during my workouts.

hi i read this at living-foods.com (posted below..) i have been eating raw foods for the past 6mnths.and now it is winter and im finding my digestion to be really slow! im feeling cold and tired all the time.. 10 days ago i did a sort of ‘master cleanse/juice feast".. and now i feel i cant digest any food!! -except apples nd oranges… can anyone suggest some tips for better digestion and keepin warm ;).. thanks

So I heard about the raw diet several years ago, at first I thought the guy who told me about it was crazy, but the idea never left my mind… after years of feeling miserable and several months of considering it, going raw for life seems to be the answer to a lot of difficulties I have.
Anyway, I’m very excited to start, however I don’t exactly know HOW. Cutting out foods I normally eat and going straight to raw foods would probably have my body go into shock, I would imagine…
Prior to my decision, I’ve already made healthier choices this past year, no soda or fast food (once a month, if that), and I hardly ever eat meat (again with maybe once or twice a month).
So I can’t imagine it would be too difficult, but should I start with raw nuts or other snacks at first or specific meals?
I’ve read most of ‘Raw Food Life Force Energy’, which is great, but looking for more personal experiences… thanks!!

IM A TEEN NOT AN ADULT. FYI
i wanna go a diet, but i recently found this diet called the rawfood diet.
but as i did my reserch it says that raw foods are NOT good for bones. something like bone strength and marrow.
i would never eat raw meat, but are raw fruits and vegetables ok?
or will they weaken my bones?
i just wanna know how is this possible, and is there any other diet that works.

I am already a vegetarian, but I think I may want to try the Raw Food Trial. I read that it is a sort of detoxification of the body to eat only raw foods for about 30 days, that’s why I want to try it, not because I want to lose weight. I’m almost 16 years old, and have been a vegetarian for almost a year now. If anyone has already tried this trial or knows someone else who has, can you please tell me all the the information you know! I would also like some recipes I could use if I did decide to try the diet. Also, can you eat dairy, or is it sort of like being a vegan?

Please don’t just say that it’s unhealthy because I do take liquid vitamins every day which provide me with everything I’m missing from not eating meat, so I don’t think nutrient deficiency will be a major problem.

All answers are appreciated, so thank you in advance!

so i’ve been a vegan for a year and now i’m starting to eat raw foods only. i went to the grocery store yesterday and bought dates, carrots, apples, bananas, arugula, a papaya, watermelon, red bell pepper, almonds, avocado, bean sprouts and honey dew melon. so i’ve basically been eating a lot of fruits and veggies. i haven’t made any raw meals from recipes yet because they’re kind of daunting.
i’ve been eating more fruits than veggies also because i just like fruit a lot more. is it possible to each too much fruit?

if anyone could give me any pointers, or recipes, i’d really appreciate it :)

Hi there,

I’m interested in switching my cat over to a raw food diet. I currently feed him Innova kibble during the day and Wellness wet food at night.

Is it best to switch my cat over to raw gradually or should I just go "cold turkey"?

Any tips you have about switching kitty over would be much appreciated!

Also … I’ve also read about some commercial brands of frozen and freeze dried raw foods. Are these brands any good and if so, what would you recommend?

Duhh.But anyways;no processed,cooked,or anything like that.
You’re basically becoming an extreme vegetarian for months..or a life time!
I think its a really good diet,I’ve seen videos on Youtube with real people.A man lost 100 lbs in 5-6 months on this.

Another man/boy lost 18 lbs in 7 days.
I’m pretty skeptical about stuff like this, but I dont think they’re lying.
Basically my question is, if you’ve been on this diet,or if you haven’t, all I really want is your opinion.

I read that some people have blue eyes that appear brown because of a layer toxins in your eyes caused by eating processed foods. It said that by eating raw foods, the amount of toxins will decrease and your true eye color will be more visible.

Does anyone know if it works?
Hiiro and silentkilla, did you even read what I posted? The eye color would have always been blue, but a layer of toxins would be making them appear brown. This has nothing to do with "genetics"

I am quite familiar with healthy eating, raw foodism, and nutrition (working on a B.S. in nutritional science) though my question needs to be answered by someone with far more insight than myself. I understand what enzymes are, how they work, and am a believer in both digestive therapeutic applications. I am also a fan of the raw food diet for the clean, simple, and ‘living’ factor, but cringe when I read about raw foodists ’selling’ the notion that eating raw foods will increase enzyme activity in the body. As far as I know, our body starts producing enzymes in the form of amylase as soon as we begin to salivate for food. The harsh environment of the stomach denatures most proteins, which includes enzymes. How can we say that the enzymes are still in tact in the stomach on top of saying that they are ready and willing to help break down the foods that they let sit so nicely in front of us before they were consumed?
Thanks you guys, but just so you know, this is less of a personal question, and more of a scientific one. Also, I am not speaking about the consumption of raw meat, but about that of vegetables and/or dairy products

I’ve done research on this, I’ve joined several yahoo groups, etc. Since my dog has been on kibble for a little while(Blue Wilderness) everyone has suggested slowly started adding in raw foods and taking away kibble. Everyone has suggested starting off with a raw egg in the shell on top of a little kibble.

However, I cannot find the answer to one question. Can my dog eat the shell as well? Is the shell a good part of the raw food diet?
