Hey, I’m 15 and I’m a year round runner for my high school and I’m strong in this sport and am very competitive. I’ve just recently heard of the raw food diet and how it can help an athlete’s strength and endurance, as well as help lose excess fat. Tonight I’ve spent a long time researching this diet and figuring out how it may effect me, but want more of a direct response. I don’t eat unhealthily and completely stay away from fast food, so I’m not doing this to lose any weight, but to specifically increase my performance level (strength, endurance). I would like to know the following :
1) Would beginning the diet decrease my performance level the first few days, as I’m detoxing?
2) Are there any specific health risks, mentally or physically? [I'm going to NOT specifically eat only raw foods, for I am a teen and don't really have the money to spend on super foods, organic, etc. I will eat pasta and cooked foods but very scarcely. For example, to sustain energy needed for running I will make a plate of pasta and top it off with many raw veggies and nuts. Also, I can make salads and top it off with nuts, to sustain my protein intake.]
3) Should I stay away from milk, eggs and cheese?
4) Are there any supplements I should be taking, such as calcium, etc.?
5) Why must raw fruits be eaten in moderation? [I want to become serious about this diet and try it out for at least a week, for I've researched this and have seen people with great results, and I heard it can increase my strength and endurance, for I am competitive.] But right now I’ve realized this isn’t REALLY a raw food diet, for I won’t only be eating raw foods, but I will try to stay away from cooked foods except for pasta. Are there any tips or affordable recipes I can use, such as smoothies or juices. And I won’t be using more than 117 degrees F of heat on my food, for I heard that the food can quickly lose nutritional value. So can anyone tell me about their experience if they’ve gone through this, and whether my ideas for the diet are correct? I’d really appreciate it! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! ♥

Purchase Fat Burning Diet

I just started a raw food diet, which means i can only eat raw fruits and vegetables. I’ve just been eating them like a snack, but i wanna know if there are any recipes for a raw food diet?… Also, is a whole piece of sushi raw, or just the fish part?

I never know how to explain my way of eating to people because im not really a vegetarian, so it gets confusing and people always ask me.
The foods I eat are extremely simple. I dont eat anything that has been processed, or altered by man in any way. So pretty much raw fruits, raw veggies, and then tuna, shrimp and sometimes grilled chicken. But I never add anything to it, not even salt, and I dont eat cooked food, or food recipes, Its just..plain and simple healthy food, the way God made it. My main concern isnt avoiding animal products, but avoiding the chemicals and oils that are put into processed foods. I get tired of trying to explain it to everyone, and it seems to be similar to the raw food diet, but I hate to call it that because im not on a diet..It would be a lot more simple if I could just say "im a…. whatever-tarian" and leave it at that. So, does anyone know if there is a name for this or not?

thanks :)

I’m planning on doing a detox or colon fast for 3 days. I’m 13 years old, 115lbs and 5’4. Has anyone done a fast before? I wanna just eat organic fruits, veggies and water for 3 days. I’m hoping it will clear my skin, and maybe I’ll lose like 2-3 lbs? And I heard u can take this supplement thing with you meal to make it a colon cleanse? I also thought about a 3 day water fast but I wanna start with just eating raw fruits/veggies. How do I eat before/after a fast? Will I have energy? Pls answer my questions! Thanks

IM A TEEN NOT AN ADULT. FYI
i wanna go a diet, but i recently found this diet called the rawfood diet.
but as i did my reserch it says that raw foods are NOT good for bones. something like bone strength and marrow.
i would never eat raw meat, but are raw fruits and vegetables ok?
or will they weaken my bones?
i just wanna know how is this possible, and is there any other diet that works.

first off, I’m already a vegetarian. I’ve been a vegetarian for three years now, going back and forth to veganism. I’ve been studying about raw foodism for a while now, so I know about how I can get my nutrients…which doesn’t have to come from processed foods and animal products. raw foodism can be the healthiest diet if you eat the right fruits and vegetables. anyways, this is my plan:
week one: each of my meals and snack will consist of fruits and/or vegetables (cooked or raw)
week two: each of my meals and snacks will consist ONLY of fruits and vegetables (cooked or raw)
week three: at least two meals a day has to be all fresh fruits and/or vegetables (as well as snacks)
week four: at least two meals a day has to be all fresh fruits and/or vegetables (as well as snacks)
after week four everything will be raw fruits and vegetables.

I’m doing a 5 day fast of nothing but water and green tea, and then after I’ll only have raw fruits and veggies with roasted unsalted nuts, green tea and fresh fruit and veg juice. Has anyone else done this diet? From what I’ve read it’s healthy, fast, and something I can do potentially for the rest of my life, and I’m not looking to get talked out of it. I just want to hear other peoples experiences with it. Also, I know I’m going to cheat by allowing coffee with non-dairy creamer and Stevia (or Splenda), will this totally throw things out of whack? I know at least initially, I’m going to need my coffee, it’s my one concession. Thanks.
I won’t be having the coffee coffee during the fast.

For years my staple diet was wheat pitas, rice & very spicy veg/non-veg dishes (typical indian/pakistani foods). Over last six months, I started eating mostly raw fruits & vegetables. While overall effect on health was good, but I started having this persistent toothache. I showed many dentists but after scores of x-rays they could not find anything wrong.

Now, a few days ago, I was at a party & I had to eat traditional Indian/Pakistani food, and lo & behold toothache disappeared. Now I have added wheat Pita etc back into my diet and toothache doesnt bother me any more.

Just wanted to share my experience, & see if my mosty fruit diet was lacking in something. Should I take any supplements along with it.?
So, are u guys saying, cooked vegetables are better than raw ones for teeth? I do drink lots of milk.
To Jen:

But my digestion became super-excellent when I started raw fruits & veggies. All my body functions become much better, except this stupid toothache.

I am not 100% raw, but I definitely believe in the power of raw fruits and vegetables (I am around 80% raw, vegan, and I take b12, iron, calcium, vitamin D supplements).
The long term strict raw vegans out there look so unhealthy.
Matt Monarch, I love you, but don’t you agree that he looks sickly?
I have yet to see a truly healthy looking LONG-TERM strict raw vegan.
If you know any, please tell me.
