I have a 3 year old chihuahua who i have recently put on the BARF diet.
What i would like to know is a little about the diet, like:
How it helps them?
Why its preferable over kibble?
Maybe some recipes?
Would i need to mix vegetables in it also? As otherwise he would be eating protein and nothing else?
Should i still give him kibble as well as Bones and Raw meat?
Can i feed him raw fish as well as meat?
And some additional info would be great, thanks

Purchase Fat Burning Diet

One of my best friends has Crohn’s. He cannot eat raw foods, such as: vegetables, fruits and nuts. He also has trouble with dairy and some starchy-carbs. Such foods cause "flare-ups" of his Crohn’s. Pretty much the only food he has no trouble digesting is meat.

What kind of recipes can be prepared for him?

Also, I’m worried about getting enough calcium, protein, etc. Any vegetables or anything raw that’s good for that?

I started on the 7 day soup diet, and am not eating the soup but following the plan. It’s basically no sugar or flour as well. Since I’m taking hydroxycut, exercising, and consuming less than 1000 calories a day.
I’ve been basically on raw foods for the past few days, and tomorrow I am finally allowed to eat beef. up to 20oz of it actually. I don’t think i’ll be able to eat that much. Maybe some for dinner. I’m obviously getting 90% lean ground beef.

Anyway I’m not looking for advice on dieting I know what I’m doing. I just want a creative meal for beef and vegetables I guess.
I know what I’m doing because I’ve tried these type of diets before with success. They work for me that’s why I’m using them to jumpstart my healthy eating plan. I’m also taking a multivitamin, bee pollen, royal jelly. And I hike or walk everyday. You ever hear of fasting?? This is a super cleanse for my body, and I’m also trying to keep the no flour no sugar system because it works! Thanks for everyone else who supplied a recipe.

Hi, my sister and I are considering going on an organic, mostly raw diet. We are not vegetarian, nor do we really care to be, but as far as meat goes we plan to eat mainly chicken and fish. We love most fruits and veggies, so this probably won’t be a huge problem for us.This is not to lose weight, but to be healthier and cleanse our bodies of preservatives. I was just wondering if anyone had some suggestions, and maybe recipe/meal ideas? We are fairly petite, so plans for the day should be no more than about 1500 calories. Also, we can’t have any foods from the nightshade family (potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplant, and other kinds of peppers), so keep this in mind when suggesting recipes! Thanks in advance!
Oh, and the reason for no peppers, etc., is because we thought we had a bell pepper allergy, but it turns out that our bodies can’t digest the solanine (a toxin found in all of those vegetables that just passes through most people). So basically, eating those things has been poisoning us until we realized it.

I’m going to try this diet/meal plan. Does anyone know if it is good for weight loss/fat loss?
-one bowl of plain Quaker rolled oats oatmeal or toast with peanut butter and fresh fruit for breakfast
-fresh fruit throughout the day, raw or in smoothie form with just ice
-raw/cooked vegetables for dinner
so basically all i’m eating is fruits and vegetable with a little bit of substantial carbs in the morning… will i lose a good amount of weight?
I’m 17 years old, about 130lbs, and have been vegetarian for over a year. Want to try vegan lifestyle now. I still eat beans, legumes, and nuts for protein.
so i just did a recent weigh-in and my current weight is 124lbs at 5’5", not 130…

I remember as a child I lived with my Grandma and she always ordered out for food, and I remember at one point I got tired of junk food, and I know how BAD it is for you. Every night I make a homecooked meal with two vegetables, and all my children ( except my 7 MYOB, ) eat two fruits a day, breakfast and after school… anyways, what does your childs diet consist of… do you have like a schedule?

Of those who feed a BARF diet, what exactly do you feed them.?
I’m interested in examples of actual diets you give your dog.

I have friends that have their dogs on raw, but where I live they don’t have the meal packages or they’re way too expensive. So we are going to have to do this from scratch. (the veg and fruit part)

I’m not interested in somebody telling me about possibilities of salmonella poisoning, blah blah blah. Go to your local dog food factory and see how much salmonella you can find in the factory. And while you’re there ask why most of the food they make is not even absorbed or capable of being absorbed by the dog’s system – it’s filler and most is bad filler. It’s sickening! I’ve done my research, and I have made up my mind. I’ve seen results and heard of results.. dogs on their death bed switched to raw and turning 360s. Less vet visits, doctors asking what the flip the people have their dog on because they seem so healthy, etc.
thehamburgs@hotmail.com email us if you have any questions on BARF or are new to the idea.

Thank you to the poster regarding comment on knowing your source. So very true! :)

What i’m interested in – in specific – is the veggies and fruits. We’ll be feed majority of chicken back and turkey neck. But it’s all the other that doesn’t come pre-packaged that we will have to put together on our own. muscle meat, vegetables, fruits, oil, etc… the other 40% or "meal deal" portion that is.

I have a friend who basically all she eats is junk food. She has mc donalds or other fast food place like almost everyday and takeout. She doesnt drink any water or she might have like less than 1 glass a day and just drinks soft drinks. she doesnt do ANY exercise whatsoever, she just sits at a computer/desk or watches t.v all day. She doesnt eat vegetables or anything green and she eats like double the amount of me which is a lot. She doesnt eat breakfast or if she did it would probably be like heaps of bacon or pancakes with icecream and cream or some chocolate muffins. then she might have like a packet of chips for snack or chocolate and then french fries or a combination of lollies, chocolate, chips, etc (basically every junk food you can imagine) and then she might have like some more fatty foods throughout the day and then for dinner she will prob have mcdonalds or kfc or some takeout and then she has like chocolate, chips or basically a whole range or fatty foods before she goes to bed. Yet she is one of the skinniest people I have ever seen – shes 5’4 and weighs just under 90 lbs. Why is her matabolism so fast and just doesnt slow down at all?
By the way no one else in her family is thin she is like the only one.

I currently feed my dogs Innova but I want to switch them to a home-made diet. Not exactly raw, but maybe cooked vegetables, chicken and some type of rice.

I just want to know if you can tell me exactly how much chicken to mix with how much rice. (eg. 2 cups rice to 1/2 cups chicken)

Also, do I have to add any supplements? I currently put a teaspoon of flaxseed and a teaspoon of sunflower oil on their food daily for their coats, but what about other stuff? If you could also tell me how much they cost that would be great. Thanks

P.S, all of my dogs range from 40lbs and up.

We are just addressing the end result of misallocation of land, resources, and continuing the exert pressure to produce meat. Why don’t we solve the problem and people who can choose vegetables choose these? Even organic range is not that good……..the animal still has to die at the hands of humans..

Now, I mean people living near food stores, who can afford vegetables, which are really much more efficent to grow. Not people living in the bloody cavemen times!

I saw on a label of a jar of pickles that they had 0 calories. I thought every food had calories…. and if cucumbers have calories, then how is this possible? I have heard that eating celery has negative calories because it takes more energy to eat and digest than it contains. This could be true for multiple vegetables possibly.

Ok so, I want to be a vegetarian. BUT, I’m not a big fan of vegetables :)) Like I could force myself to eat them if I was hungry and wasn’t eating anything else, but I don’t really like them. So I was wondering if you guys had any tips. Any foods that I should eat for energy and nutrition. Any foods that I should definitely stay away from. And why? And also any pluses that come with being a vegetarian…aside from animals aren’t killed, please.

Thank you.

I have a Bearded Dragon and have read that vegetables are crucial to their balanced diet, but when I try to feed him collard greens sprayed with tap water he refuses to eat it. I have no problem feeding him live food (crickets, super meal worms). Are there any suggestions on a vegetable that he may prefer more than the collard greens? I have only tried the greens based on the advice of the guy at the pet store who sold him to me. Can I give him fruit, if so what kind of fruit?

My fiance is wanting to go on a diet and he is not the picky eater, I am, but I need some ideas for a diet that I can live with so that he can lose weight. Everytime he tries to go on a diet I end up buying junk food because I cant stand any kinds of fruits or vegetables and then his diet fails. I am basically a meat, cheese, bread and potatoes kind of person. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I’m exercising doing Insanity workouts, & eating healthy, more fruits & vegetables as well as taking greens powder and a good natural multivitamin daily, I’m also taking psyllium husks, & aloe vera, to clean my colon. (for about a week) How long will it take to detox, or be toxin free, I’m 25 and have had Candida for a few years. I’m also starting a candida diet (again) & natural anti candida remedies: coconut oil, garlic, oregon oil, etc.
(I sweat a lot when I workout & drink plenty of water)

16, female, 5 foot 7 inches, 181lbs. (Fat, I know, I know. At least I’m trying.)

I finally saved enough money with my job to afford a treadmill. I used to run at the park but I didn’t do it often because I hated going outside and running. Now I have a treadmill inside so I’ll be working out more often…any tips?

So far I’m going about 15 mins at 2.5mph each time, and I do that around 10 times a day. According to my treadmill that means I burn around ~600 cals a day. I really want to have my goal around ~1500 cals a day, so I started lifting 5lb weights while I walk, but I don’t know how much that is helping. I also brought up the incline on the tredmill a little.

My diet is mostly vegetables, with the bulk of it being white rice (Around 50%) and the rest are steamed vegetables and for one meal a day I eat some meat, usually a little bit of fish. I wrap my rice in seaweed because I like the taste of it…I’m avoiding cooking oils and fats completely so everything is steamed or baked, or toasted.
I’m eating lots of fruits, though. Maybe an apple and some figs, or a few mangoes/avocado on my rice.
I’m only drinking water and maybe once a day a half cup of cranberry juice or the green super food drink that I have in the morning.
I don’t go to school so I don’t eat the greasy fat foods they serve at schools.

Any tips on my regime? I’ve been doing this for about a week now, no significant weight loss so I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or maybe not enough working out.

Any recipes that are mainly rice and vegetables will ago be greatly loved! They don’t have to be delicious, just edible.
Wow, I didn’t know that about rice!
I’ll cut out most of the rice and replace it with just lots of water.
2lb a week should be normal for this workout plan? I lost 1.5lb this week so I guess that’s good. :)

The workout don’t really tire me out since I only go for around 15 minutes each, and I usually do something like listen to music or watch TV while I’m walking….
Thanks Dave H,

I’m taking protien supplements once a day, but at the same time I’m trying to avoid all the chemicals I hear are in store-bought meat. My dad is a fisherman so I do eat wild fish at least once a day…other than that I don’t really like how red meat tastes so I don’t eat it much.
I do try to keep my protein intake up with the supplements, since I know I need it. I also take coral calcium tablets which I believe has soy protein in it as well.

I’ve been on a raw food diet but I’m running out of things to eat… I ran out of lettuce for my salad at lunchtime. This is what I eat everyday:
Breakfast – Fruit salad
Lunch – Salad w/ some vegetables or fruit
Dinner – Lots of vegetables or fruit till I’m full

What can I eat for a substitute for my salad I’m out of lettuce!

My fiance is often tired and experiences mild depression. I think it has to do with his diet, I have just moved in with him and would like to adapt his diet to give him energy. Thanks for your help.
I know diet wont "cure" depression but he is always tired and that is what adds tio his depression. His diet so far hasnt included many vegetables, etc. I have started him on vitamins and in the last week have seen a difference. I am looking for a list of "Super foods" as such.

Hi, I love my dog more than anything, and I want to him to live a long, happy, healthy life.
Of course, one of the most important things when it comes to health is an adequate, well-balanced diet.
So… I am thinking about alternating my pit bulls’ kibble diet with raw meat and vegetables, so I am doing research on the matter.

I was wondering how many (if any) of you feed your APBTs raw food diets and what your thoughts on the matter are.

Advice, tips, suggestions, links, recipes, preparation steps, and any other information you are willing to provide would be greatly obliged.

Thanks for your time.

I’ve tried many foods that I’ve heard boost metabolism like those super hot green peppers, green/ice tea all natural, lots of water, lots of different vegetables, spicy foods, energy drinks, and more but my metab never speeds up. I even got it checked and it’s not fast and I’m only 18. Does anyone know any other foods that do a really good job on boosting metabolisms other than what I said?
