I am interested in making homemade dog food for my 3 year old chihuahua and my 12 week old malchi. I have found a few recipes, but I need more information on what nutritional guide to go by. Like how much meat and which vegetables and fruits to use and how much. I am not interested in the raw food diet since they include bones and being that my dogs are little and one is so young. Also with the raw diets, I hear there is risk of e. coli. I definitely want to cook mine. Also which vitamins or supplements are the best to add? Thank you!
Can i get some more info. on the raw diets such as Barf and raw meaty bones diet?
Well i have crazy cravings for tomato sandwichs, strawberries and green grapes. I go to the store once a week and buy all of it in bulk!
Well, i eat about 2 tomato sandwiches a day a whole thing of strawberries and 1/4 a bag of green grapes. I eat more food than that a day, but i’m not going to sit here and list it all.
The store i go to, a lady works there who is SUPER nosey always asking am i taking my vitamins, when is my next appointment and so on. I understand she is just being nice but it bothers me because i dunno her and she dunno me.
She decided to ask why i buy so many strawberries, grapes and tomatoes then has the nerve to tell me they are BAD for me to be eating every single day. I have never heard of this in my life. I find it HARD to believe that she is right about this. Is she?
HAHA.. i’m from the south.
a tomato sandwich is bread, mayo, salt, pepper and tomatoes. =]
So far my diet at university has been poor, I need to up my game and get a proper amount of calories, vitamins and nutrient rich food down my neck.
Any advice on what foods to eat and how to eat enough calories on a daily basis in such a busy environment
im very tired but i need to get motivated to do a ton of school work. I was thinking just a red bull or something but i dont want the crash. Will the no sugar red bull still give me a crash? Are there any vitamins or pills that will give me some energy and motivation to do all of my work. Im major stressing right now.
Thanks!
also dont give me any crap saying "dont do that" or "eat a banana for energy".
and i was told by someone "if you have a total raw food diet you shouldn’t cook your food over 118 degrees because it destroys the vitamins and enzymes" but isn’t it then cooked so its not a total raw food diet!!!!
#smeone please explain!!
cheers!
Im only 21 but Im usually dead tired. I don’t know what kind of vitamins I should take or what kinds of food I should eat to increase my energy levels. I drink lots of milk and eat lots of cereals. Should I just eat more than I eat now(coz I hardly eat) or should I start taking vitamin pills.
Also, witch type of foods should I eat for my brain and working memory to be functioning at its best?
My dad is 63 yrs old, he needs vitamins to boost his energy up and for stronger bones. What vitamin do ya think would be good for him? Also what kind of foods should he eat for energy and stronger bones?
I’ve been working out for a few months now. I’m getting kind of irritated because I’ve been told that you are supposed to get more energy by working out…but it doesn’t seem to be working that way for me. I am noticing that I am becoming too tired and feeling weaker than ever. I have been giving myself resting days like I am supposed to…I feel like I am doing everything correctly. I’m wondering if there is something I can eat that can give me more energy. I am wondering if I should be eating more of something maybe I am lacking some sort of vitamins. I would appreciate some tips and advice!
My 8 month old boston terrier mix has an extremely sensitive stomach and I dont know what to do anymore!
We have tried 4 different types of food and none seem to help him.
First was Orijen which was the worst because of how high in protein it was, he had blood in his stool and wouldnt eat it eventually. And yes we have had multiple stool samples done and all came back negative.
Then we tried Wellness which we kept him on for about 3 months….but he always had loose stool and sometimes extremely liquidy!
We were told to change his main protein in his diet so we switch to performance choice lamb and rice. He was on this for about a month or more and he was even worse then when we was on wellness…it was always super loose and watery. I did some research and found California Natural which is supposed to be for sensitive stomachs and allergies. It seemed to get even worse….he was going RIGHT after he ate like it just went right through him and it was all liquidy and green sometimes. I always do the transition very slow especially because of his stomach but that doesnt seem to make a difference.
The only thing that seems to be good for him is when I make him rice and chicken to settle his stomachs when it gets really bad…but I know that it doesnt have enough vitamins and nutrients in it to feed him all the time.
I feel really bad changing his food so much and Im sure that doesnt help his stomach either but its getting out of hand and I just dont know what to do anymore. We have even had the vet give us pills to make his stool solid and those barely help!
I have gotten to the point where I think a home made diet will be the only thing that will be good for him but I dont have the time to make something super complicated for him everyday.
If anyone has any ideas what to do, or a simple homemade diet that still gives him everything he needs please help me!
He’s lively and has tons of energy so hes not sick or anything but I dont want him to have a upset stomach anymore :(
Thank you
My fiance is often tired and experiences mild depression. I think it has to do with his diet, I have just moved in with him and would like to adapt his diet to give him energy. Thanks for your help.
I know diet wont "cure" depression but he is always tired and that is what adds tio his depression. His diet so far hasnt included many vegetables, etc. I have started him on vitamins and in the last week have seen a difference. I am looking for a list of "Super foods" as such.
for example some sort of food that has vitamins that make your eyes more bright or something i dunno…. my eyes are super close to be green and i want them green! what can i do?
Iv’e been in the process of switching my dogs to a raw diet. I still have some kibble left, so I have been slowly introducing them to some raw food to get thier stomachs used to it. It seems there are a million and one different ways to go with this raw diet! I would like to buy the foods myself and prepare them myself. I always buy 1/4 cows and have a storage freezer to fit the extra meat for dogs. I have been giving them some raw chicken thighs, some steak and hamburger. Now I know this probably is not all there is to it. Iv’e googled up raw recipies and seem to get companies selling thier products more than actual do it youself recipies. What are some good recipies I can give my dogs. I’m not really to worried about the veggies as much as I am the supplements I need to add to make the meal complete and healthy so they do not lack any vitamins or essential supplements needed. What are some of your recipies? I am looking for the complete meal with absolutely everything they need.
considering a raw diet for my lab. Why buy expensive frozen, freeze dried dog food brands . Isn’t better to go to the butcher at the supermarket
If I do I would properly supplement her with minerals and vitamins. hamburg is not good unless i make it
I have been on a little of a health kick lately and trying to eat better. So, I though if I’m going to eat less processed foods why not do the same with my dog.
I have done some research and am interested in a raw food diet. Does anyone have their dogs on a raw diet?
Is it cheaper?
Is it safe?
Any good recipes?
What do you think about some of the powders used to add vitamins to the meat?
I was thinking about using this one.

I’m transitioning over to raw foodism and when I told my best friend, she kept telling me how I should not eat just vegetables and fruits and that I should eat other things too. she doesn’t understand that you can get all the nutrients and vitamins your body needs without eating processed foods. also, I know my family is going to have an issue with this, how could I explain this to them? I’m very excited about the short term and long term health benefits I will be getting by cutting out dairy and processed foods from my diet (I’ve been vegetarian for three years now).
I started my dog on the raw food diet, since I live in a very small town, I don’t have to many choices on where to get the meat. Anyways, I’m hoping that if I stock up on meat on sale, and keep it in the freezer, would all the nutrients/vitamins still be in the meat when I defrost it?(Not in the microwave, I mean naturally) And how long does meat usually last in the freezer?
I’m not much of a meat eater, so i don’t know too much about meat.
Thanks for your help!
I have been reading about the benefits of the raw food diet, and that it gives you more energy and better skin.
However, there are vitamin deficits of b12 and calcium. Can you supplement vitamins to take the place of the vitamins you aren’t getting?
Anyone have anything good or bad to say that have tried it?
ok so how do i start it? i need recipes and nutritional infor like i know you cant just eat fruits and vegetables but you also eat something else for protein or vitamins or something? show me what to do so i can start it. highest points for one person!!!
did you read my question? you still didnt answer anything i asked!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband and I are both obese and need to lose 80-100 pounds each. A friend recommended a raw food diet, where you eat as much as you want without having to cook. Does anyone know where I can get info on how to begin, any supplements/vitamins that would be necessary (or how to get everything our bodies need from this type of eating), without me having to order a book?
