The raw food diet uses raw meat,a nd raw veggies, and some raw grain, instead of prepared dog food. If your dog is healthy, it is not clear that raw food will help him, and there are cases of dogs getting sick from raw food.
I had a dog that lived for 17 years off of plain Purina dog food, so I don’t go thru the trouble of raw food.
However, you can give your dog raw carrots if he will eat them. No grapes, raisins, garlic or onions…
no raw food is unsafe it has worms bacteria and it can make your pet sick
cook meat to atlast 350 for 15-20 minutes to kill harmful stuff
I do a raw meat diet for my cats (about the size of a Yorkie, I guess). There is just tons of information and support for doing it on the internet. Put in a search for BARF to get information. That’s B(biologically) A(appropriate) R (raw) F(food) also termed Bones and Raw Food.
You can go to http://www.yahoogroups.com and join a group of other people feeding that diet with how-to tips and support and any considerations that must be taken if you have a small breed dog.
Raw food diet is based on the fact that animals in nature would not cook their food. However, the same goes for people, but we don’t eat raw food, because of the bacteria and germs it contains(salmonella, toxoplasma, trichinia, …). So, if you want to protect your dog against these, I believe very much in feeding an animal "human" food, for better quality, but cooked. Also, don’t give bones to your yorkie. You can boil meat and chicken for your dog, add some rice and some veg, like carrots or peas, and it is OK.
google raw diet for dogs also BARF
Hello, just dont wanna get into a pissing game here.
Raw diet is safe for your dog, and actually the very best you can do for him.
Worries about "germs" "salmonella" etc are all bull!
Do a research and give it a try. Your dog will love it.
